Hey, remember in 1783 how Philadelphia built a triumphal arch to celebrate the end of the Revolution and then God used the celebratory fireworks to burn it down and kill people and injure its designer, who came to regard it as punishment for his hubris? Anyway.

Marie McGowan, 89, has died 3 years after a brutal assault during which she was put headfirst into a rubbish bin. Her attacker, Alex Bailey, believed she was "a man dressed as a woman."

This is the world the transphobes are creating "to protect women."

RIP Marie. share.google/PFaI5YTh9tBw...

Rick Scott, who represents state with a higher percentage of people on ACA marketplace plans than any other and made his fortune in health care, says he opposes extending the ACA subsidies entirely.

Chris Murphy: "This is a country that's falling apart because Trump is in the middle of an authoritarian takeover. We're not on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We're in the middle of it ... I have no moral obligation to vote for a budget that literally funds the destruction of our democracy"
Seriously tho, America too big for national outlets not to have remote workers five years after everyone had to download Zoom.

Phenomenology, feminist standpoint epistemology, & situated knowledges, via James Tiptree Jr & Carl Brandon. Next week closes out epistemology w/ @kkoopman.bsky.social's The Scientist Does Not Look Back (via @escapepod.org) & @rebeccaroanhorse.bsky.social's "WtYAIE" (via @levarburton.bsky.social).
This runs completely counter to everything I learned about Rolling Stone from the hit film “Almost Famous.”
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

Hiring or employing only local writers for a national pub that doesn't do breaking news seems like a stupid way to thin out the talent pool for no reason at all but what do I know

If you played Travis Porter, a bad bitch in a bandage dress and some Charlotte Russe heels would just materialize out of thin air.
What song was popping back when you was in college? (Trying to see something)

Like just in the last year we have former NXT talent who have reported body shaming and misogyny from the coaching staff, long-term talent being abruptly fired for no given reason, constant injuries at the performance center from over-training and that's BARELY SCRATCHING THE SURFACE

WWE talent are, of course, non-salaried and are not considered--legally--employees of WWE but instead INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS. The entire appeal of which is that you can work wherever on your own terms.

And YET

Turns out: new WWE contracts have a ONE YEAR non-compete clause if someone is fired for cause or breach of contract.

Talent were not informed of this change from previous contracts.

Which means WWE is claiming Andrade cannot work in wrestling FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR because he was fired.

Cannot stress enough:

If you're still watching WWE you are supporting a company with a deep and well established relationship to the Trump administration, that is actively trying to form a monopoly in its industry, and abuses the hell out of its wrestlers physically, emotionally and monetarily.

Report: WWE Sent AEW A Letter Regarding Andrade And His Non-Compete Clause
To die for.

And it’s never not gonna be funny that Disney started the year off with a marketing plan for Tron as a fall tentpole then completely bailed on it when they got a working cut of the film.

"where you don't even live or vote" lmaooo
Mr. Conway told Mr. Benioff that San Francisco — “where you don’t even live or vote” — was trying hard to reduce crime and boost its police ranks. Since the pandemic began, Mr. Benioff has lived on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he has bought several parcels of land. He is registered to vote there, not in San Francisco.
