I’m glad ZA just did away with that pokedex checklist stuff from arceus cause while that was a cute novelty in that game it quickly became a weird progression block that didn’t really add much to the entire loop of the game

sometimes I think about how completely insane Transformers: The Movie is as a concept
"how do we do a product refresh so that kids want the next line of toys over the existing one"
"let's just kill all the existing guys on screen"
"won't that make the kids sad?"
"why would kids care if toys die?"

I think its fine but its one of those movies where they could've either gave more attention to like lugia or the villain and they didn't do either so it kinda lacks that spice to be a solid movie

The reasoning should NOT be "well if I'm surrounded by it I guess I gotta deal with it" and should instead be "if this isn't what I want, I should get involved and create a space that I'm happy with". That's grassroots. That's what this stuff was originally built off of before it got big & sold out.

This stems from the fact that the big name game companies like SNK and Capcom, events like Evo, and even popular FGC influencers are either flat out on-board, or quietly stepping around the sportwashing happening in the hobby. People feel like these are their only options if they want to play games.

I don't fuck with fighting games like I did a few years ago and have no present interest in getting back into TOing or any of the shit that I used to do, but I keep seeing this sentiment being parroted that FGC people are stuck between a Saudi Arabian rock and a hard place rn and it's simply untrue.

A well-designed game will incentivize the player toward improvement via appropriate difficulty curves, properly telegraphed elements, and the reward of longer play per credit as competency improves. It can be an actually positive feedback loop when everything gels.

Uncritical use of the phrase "quarter muncher" is one of my biggest red flags for somebody who purports to be knowledgeable about retro games. It's one of those phrases that usually says way more about the speaker than their subject matter.
