I think what the GOP Congress don't understand, or don't care about, is the extent to which:

a) the removal of the ACA's premiums credit will wreck consumer spending if those ACA users try to cut $ corners to afford health care, and

B) ACA users think of that hike as a possible death sentence.

PHYSICAL MEDIA. OWN IT.
LIBRARIES. USE THEM.

save stuff so the future can watch or listen to the past's creativity. (in case AI destroys everything)
“As prices for streaming subscriptions continue to soar and finding movies to watch, new and old, is becoming harder as the number of streaming services continues to grow, people are turning to the unexpected last stronghold of physical media: the public library.”

a beautifully weird mckenna-ish mystery: chinese mushrooms that reliably bring the little people, but don't seem to contain any psychoactive elements (& yet obviously do)
UT researcher studying odd non-psilocybin mushroom: "According to records at Yunnan Hospital, 96% of patients affected by this mushroom report seeing an abundance of 'little people' or 'elves,' often dancing, jumping, or marching around their real-world environment."

I was looking in this phone for a shot I took of a passage from UBIK by Philip K. Dick...

... because I'm getting really tired of feeling I'm stuck in UBIK

but I didn't find that picture

just a screen cap of an old tweet that I shared with a nice person here

and damn it, I think it's plausible

these two posts are Truth.
And frankly, it requires better movies. Imagine telling someone with a straight face they have a civic duty to the arts to go see Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Theater going requires wages not to stagnate so tickets become too expensive to be a regular treat, it requires paying theater employees well so there incentive to keeping them clean, well run spaces, Netflix sucks, but it's the end stage of a disease of endless growth that's been at it for a while.

It's Bandcamp Friday. If you stream music, this is your chance to pay some penance: go find the indiest artist you love at bandcamp.com and purchase their record, and tip.

They get 100% of proceeds and it will likely be more than their streaming revenue for the month.

as you dig through coverage of the Netflix Warner Bros merger, play a little game with me:

notice how many of them mention, at ALL, the two decade history of disastrous previous Time Warner mergers, and the massive layoffs, price hikes, and quality erosion that resulted

re-upping this for #CDFriday since, as of today, it's _finally_ available in the U.S.

it's solid as hell, and a true album experience

but putting out your first new album in seven years in October but having to wait until today to see it released in your own damned country must really suck 🤬

maybe we'll all end up just throwing spare cash at each other back and forth - but it's really about supporting each other & feeling that sense of support & community

so let's pull our shit together & help each other when we can

(did we just throw some cash at ted? damned straight we did) ✊

Let's get something straight here - they don't give a fuck about the studio as a studio. They see it as a set of distressed assets ready to be looted. Do not assume 'well, surely they'll continue [theatrical windows/separate streaming services/whatever] out of [inertia/respect/caution]'

I have a new tool that pops up to tell me I’m done looking at social for a bit:

I read a paragraph that immediately makes me close my phone & stare at the ceiling

Today’s graph:

“Sir, you made it through a hurricane season without a hurricane. You kept the hurricanes away. We appreciate that.”🙄
