I'm not a fan. To me, it implies that trans folks who have had surgery - which is often unavailable to people due to finances, government red tape or health issues - are someone "more trans" than someone who has not chosen or been able to have it done.

They already gave her access to her office and stuff so she can do at least some of that. She can still have debates with people as a congressperson.

I am in no way defending what Johnson is doing but right now I am just struggling to see how the timing of this has real impact practically.

And while yes it would be lovely to make them vote on it so we can see who is pro pedophile, at this point I have no expectations that the good guys win such a vote, or Mike Johnson doesn't pull some more parliamentarian bullet time dodging voodoo to get out of ever holding one.

Oh I agree it's absolute shit and needs to stop. Zeeeeeero argument on that just on precedent. I'm mostly acting if as a current practical matter there is an immediate impact. For example, I think "signing the discharge petition" doesn't mean releasing the Epstein files, just forcing a vote on it.
