I don’t think we can rule out the porcu-president at this point.
A random asexual autist who’s like the undersecretary of Fish and Wildlife’s eastern Kentucky porcupine preservation division somehow becomes God Emperor of America by virtue of being the highest ranking official unaware of Epstein’s actions.

I think this is true but it’s also even worse than this: by doing this I think what elites have inadvertently selected for is malicious low cunning and the willingness to use it as a weapon.
The paradox of the elite is that their most sought-after quality is “smart.” But they’re mostly not smart enough to tell if someone is smart.

One consequence of this is that elite spaces are dominated by people who have learned to sound smart to non-smart people, often by saying stupid things.
and the thing that comes across from the correspondence is this guy is just a fucking gross moron! I don't mean the spelling and punctuation - there's zero content there, his grasp of everything is at best shallow and normally outright nonsense.

Trump II is like if American elites handed robo-Hitler a crown but the Mecha-Furher tripped on his shoelaces walking over to pick it up, stumbled down three flights of stairs, and landed face first in a steaming pile of dogshit.

At some point, Europeans are going to need to grapple with the fact that they've allowed the United States to be their sineater.

my general theory is that the break is real, not kayfabe, and that she legitimately thinks trump's betrayed his supporters and that she's the true heir to them
Knowing the key to understanding right-wing politics in the US is understanding wrestling, they see government as kayfabe, I will ask my more wrestling-adjacent friends if this MTG/Trump break is a face turn by MTG (still a racist anti-semite, don't get me wrong) or a false break like Musk/Trump.

Trump went all the way to the Supreme Court to withhold food from vulnerable Americans.

Now, he’s firing a worker for laying out the facts: Republicans were using hunger as a political weapon.

Democrats are going to fight back for Ellen, and all federal workers.

Do you know who is paying for Trump’s ballroom?

Amazon
Google
Apple
Meta

And a bunch of other companies that coincidentally have business in front of the Trump Administration right now.

So are these companies getting special favors in return? I’m pressing for answers.

I'll add, when the reviewers are FBI agents who know damn well this review is being done to assess damage to Trump and for an eventual cover-up, they're probably going to take especial care to document what they've seen. bsky.app/profile/did:...
Pam Bondi was incompetent and stupid to do the review this way (I've read the system was open, so even people not supposed to review could review). I've done massive doc reviews like this. The reviewers *always* remember the details about incriminating hot docs like this.

It’s a great essay by @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social, but more than great it’s important

You can’t go around saying people are ignorant & won’t change. Some—maybe most—won’t change; they will resist listening & learning. But w Trump & MAGA collapsing we have an opportunity to change some minds /1

We have many opportunities bc of Trump. Here are 2

1. The brutality, cruelty, & disrespect of communities by Border Patrol/ICE will piss off a lot of people who weren’t very pro-immigration

2. Trump/Vought etc are decimating rural areas. If Dems lose by 35 instead of 50 they’ll demolish the GOP 2

i don't think that bush v. gore is the *worst* ruling in the history of the supreme court, but i do think it is the most openly *corrupt* ruling in its history. a real disgrace.

Live in a Trumpy area of California with a strong hemp industry.

This could end up peeling younger voters, libertarianish Republicans, & hemp industry workers away from Trump-MAGA.
Also think that getting rid of the Hemp loophole is going to absolutely turbofuck the GOP, tbh.

You can't blow up an industry like that that has a heavy rural component as the explicitly rural party and assume it's all going to be hunky-dory.
