you definitely know a Dad (laudatory, gender neutral, may not have children) with a 3D printer who is extremely excited about making several thousand whistles for justice
“Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, said [Whitney Hu, a community activist and organizer with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid], ‘you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.’”
As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

Something that happened often here, esp the outer burbs: Someone would notice landscaping equipment & a truck w nobody around. It’s bc CBP kidnapped the landscapers & nobody saw it happen. It’s actually the visibility, the attention, that they avoid when Bovino isn’t around.

It’s why whistles work

The court orders are pretty significant in shortening Bovino's personal tenure in various cities. He makes a show of "disregarding" them, but he always basically complies and moves on. Bovino's circus is the thing that gets the most press, but isn't necessarily the most damaging...

... far more damaging are the roving bands of ICE and CPB that don't necessarily confront protestors but spend their days pulling folks off the streets and into white panel vans. Hyperlocal reporting like that done here in LA by LA Taco, and local organizing are the best tools to fight that...

Organizing/creating localized support networks that can get people off the streets is vital -- LA had programs that "bought out" street vendors and day laborers for months at a time so they didn't have to be outside to solicit work or sell food. Minimizing street exposure means the thugs leave...

Miller's quotas are a bit of a saving grace bc as soon as an area makes it hard to rendition people, they're forced to move on or miss their metrics. Eventually, most enforcement will migrate into red areas and red states in spite of the promises to the business owners to leave those workers alone.

they're all over the Central Valley here in CA, too, in spite of promises made to farmers, ranchers, and agribusiness about leaving their workers alone.

Everything is far too expensive, jobs don't pay enough, and we're making it worse!

Wait, shit.

If I ran a shadowy international cabal, I would simply not pull the strings to make the least subtle, most obnoxious and fame-addicted man alive the president after giving him all our secrets.
