When we said NATO wasn't working we were derided.

When we said a nuclear weapons system relying on the US is dangerous we were called stupid.

The truth is the establishment are more interested in kissing US feet than keeping the UK safe.

Film # 8 of 2026. Another one very clearly influenced by French new wave. Plot a little clunky and one jarringly funny special effect, but good fun. Dennis Hopper looks absolutely beautiful and I wasn’t surprised to discover the director was a gay man. Tight sailors trousers ahoy!

After seeing the 40th anniversary screening of Labyrinth last night I plucked this from my bookcase.

Not to get all Peter Kay on you but do you remember buying books from school? The order form, the excitement of waiting weeks for it to arrive, the little slip of paper in it with your name on it 🤩

*FEBRUARY*

Film # 7 of 2026. #CarnivalOfSouls Unexpectedly unusual! Really enjoyed this. Expecting standard sixties spook-fest, got gloriously understated creepy shocker. A real French new-wave vibe about the cinematography and direction. Albeit with some of the worst ADR I’ve ever seen / heard!

Film # 6 of 2026. #CarryOnScreaming It’s ok. It’s just not as great as everyone would have me believe. It doesn’t even work as pastiche. The jokes are thin on the ground and for something that is supposedly paying homage to Hammer Horror, it’s lit far, far too brightly. It’s ok. Just not my fave!
