Slightly more seriously, I'm taking this as the Universe lightly bullying me back into #musicstudies!

Time was I published/presented on:
🎶 Julius Eastman
🎶 Instrumental virtuosity re: Guitar Hero
🎶 The effects of industry structures on pop music (album cycles, radio station formats, etc.)
I don't like that Suffolk poll either but these are not the actions of an energized opposition.
A testament to the Midwestern capacity for a low roast
Mar Awa III, patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, also born in Chicago, gave Pope Leo a Cubs jersey.

I understand I’m likely cursing the Hawkeyes by bringing this up, but Minnesota’s drive of three consecutive sacks followed by a punt returned for a touchdown is the sort of thing Jon Bois would make a video about.

I am just a little bit of a media historian, but I've read enough to say that I think this has a pretty easy explanation: there was a time where if you wanted to be a movie exec you had to socially succeed with other movie people; now you have to socially succeed with finance and tech bros.
last 15 years feel like an experiment in putting individuals who don't know why people see movies in charge of getting people to see movies
David and Larry Ellisons’ sloptastic vision for Hollywood is coming into focus:

“Paramount has reportedly signed a $200M+ multiyear deal for Higgsfield AI to use mass-use Popcorn AI model that ingests dailies and script notes, then outputs regional cuts: new leads, alternate jokes, revised endings”
While I appreciate it is likely a principled stand over music they own, enough of the songs I programmed during my time in college radio (2003-06) aren’t on DSPs to the point I’m starting to think I hallucinated them.
Fantasy football people: this is good, right?
The AI bubble really has become a ten orders of magnitude bigger version of the old joke about artists passing the same twenty dollars back and forth.

Black Messiah stands (to me) as one of the very few “lost albums” that not only met but exceeded the expectations that status put on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQwBKmYj5WI
At least I have physical media to the rescue!
When the original time came and went and we realized what happened, we were too focused on getting someone on the phone at least that I forgot to ask. Once things get resolved however…
I’m happy at least my smart home experiments are holding up and working basically as normal but I totally bonked this scenario on the entertainment front. Terabytes on a server that I can’t get to play on a television effectively ten feet away.
Truly excellent work by Verizon customer service, whose chatbot hallucinated creating a support ticket thereby extending the Internet outage at our house into at least a fourth day. Living in the Age of the Future.

The Coca-Cola Freestyle machine is an echo chamber. Good luck finding nuanced debates about hot button issues on that touch screen. It’s just soda names and flavored syrups
Wondering what past versions of myself would think about the fact I’m thinking about doing a road race “because it would be funny.”
The last album I felt like I was being bullied into listening to was a single hour-long slowcore track, but I did end up listening to it.
Joe Bob had me in the first half, not gonna lie. #TheLastDriveIn #TheFinalTerror
