Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Professors, many of whom are gig workers and offered very little protections, don’t make these decisions or have much choice in them. The tenure track job has all but disappeared. it is hard to explain the value of learning poetry to a bunch of kids who don’t care for $30k or less annually.

Students aren’t customers, correct, but the institution of higher learning treats them as customers. It is not surprising to hear students complain about required courses when a college degree is a considered a necessary prerequisite for basically any job.
