Nobody bought any of my stories or poems this year (probably because I stopped submitting a lot of them a while ago). Anyway, here's a poem I published on my blog that will win no awards, but that still resonates with me all these months later.

pretty clearly a bunch of these guys are pulling for a schism for reasons that are somewhat but not entirely opaque to me (they think they can run countries, plural, with a friendly American Catholic Papacy in South Bend)

The first strike was also murder. You can’t just up and kill civilians on the high seas and then claim you were at war with them.
Reporter: If there were a second strike that killed wounded people, would that be legal?

Trump: I don’t know that happened and Pete said he did not even know what people were talking about. I wouldn’t have wanted a second strike. The first strike was very lethal. It was fine.

also given the risk involved in teaching, it’s fucked up that universities don’t want to pay tenure-line professors to take the risk by being the lead instructors for these courses

This isn't unstoppable. It's not inevitable. It's greedy, short-sighted anti-human solipsists that have been rewarded by crony capitalism to the point of being toxic toward society, who think they have the right. These are the same people that want to go to space, but only with the "right" people.

It's cost me my livelihood personally, but it's coming for all of us. Literally all of us. Rich people have lost their ability to think long term, so they are going to doom humanity with this, and not in a Skynet way. These are anti-human humans and they need to be stopped, and it's up to US, sadly.

So many people have dismissed me because it's a bubble and bubbles burst, but like, this one needs opposition. This bubble NEEDS to burst, and the entire apparatus of rich people is trying to reinforce it. We have to make AI not only a class traitor thing, but extremely dorky and uncool.

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

IDK but probably the ideal health specimen is like the 85 year old grandparent in Flushing doing Tai Chi in the park. They were fit enough to get to the park and follow the Tai Chi movements at their big ole age.

We also don't talk enough about how the demands of a sport and the demands of long-term health and longevity are not always compatible.

Football and CTE are the most extreme examples of this, but we need to stop thinking that athletes are healthy, period (said neutrally)

One other notable thing here: Northwestern said a few months ago it would fund own research through the end of the year, but remained unclear about what would happen at the start of 2026

Today is Nov. 28 and funding will be restored within 30 days…have to imagine the timing was intentional
