It’s telling that the cover of the album isn’t a picture of D’Angelo himself. It’s a scanned frame of 16mm footage filmed at the Afropunk Festival in 2014 that pictures the crowd raising their hands in protest at the killing of Michael Brown.

What D’Angelo said Black Messiah means. It came out at the end of 2014 and it was so needed.

There are surely bad people in every race, but whiteness is a systemic problem that isn't symmetrical to problems in members of most other groups -- and there's only vague similarities to some kinds of racial superiorities.

Under my Standing Authorities as Commander-in-Chief, this morning, the Secretary of War, ordered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) conducting narcotrafficking in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility — just off the Coast of Venezuela. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was trafficking narcotics, was associated with illicit narcoterrorist networks, and was transiting along a known DTO route.
