this is more translation adjacent but if as translator or adapter you write a particular speech quirk for a major character you will have to continue writing every single line of theirs that way for the entire rest of the thing. plan accordingly
To my fellow translators: what do you wish someone had taught you about translation (whether the act or translation or having a freelance job) that you had to learn by yourself?

I think a lot of "learn to code" people thought high salaries for programmers were a permanent feature of the world rather than the result of unusual circumstances around supply and demand in the labor market. Over last 20 years, CS went from a niche college major to the most popular major in the US
New CS grads are making less than I made as an accounting graduate straight out of college a decade ago, and I don’t mean inflation adjusted, I mean nominally.

By the way, if you're wondering why JP publisher can go so over the top with EN manga censorship like this: First, it's Apple. Apple doesn't allow "porn" on its store, and is a big fucking nanny about it. Second, it's payment processors. We know how they love to label JP content "porn".

The incredibly rare topic of anime came up when I was talking with my mom the other day, and it turned out my sister got so into a recent show that she made my mom watch it with her.
I haven't seen it myself so I can't say, but if I had to show my mom one show, it probably wouldn't be Dandadan.
