I checked in on Afnan and she sent me this video from last night in her tent. If you can spare anything to help her find better shelter for Mofeed and Malak before winter really hits, please do tinyurl.com/HelpAfnan

Hello friends! Barley is multiplying; 1000 barley seeds will sprout. Last year there were only 3. Please share and donate if you can.

there are two tragedies of the commons

the enclosure acts the upper classes imposed to steal them from us

and the victim blaming narrative that insists that that was actually the lesser evil because the masses were so incompetent and terrible

One reason I was skeptical of LLMs is that I've been scraping out a life as a writer for nearly 20 yrs.

Do you know how cheaply and quickly humans will produce words for you? Or how little you have to increase the compensation to get very high quality words indeed?

I do. ☠️
“AI sceptics” who work on policy and education continue to overestimate the utility of LLMs—portraying it as a potential revolution even as they warn against overhype—simply because they can’t see that generating seemingly coherent text has very little economic value, all evidence to the contrary

(Neo)liberals genuinely believe that when they make the subjective compromise we all make on everything they are making the *objectively* correct one

Thus when you want something they don't you're being extraordinarily entitled. But if a party doesn't offer what they want it's "unserious" and "mad"
There is an extraordinary sense of entitlement behind the belief that there ought to be political party that aligns 100% with your own opinions.

Lmao 600 for a city of 8.48 million. Never forget there are more of them than there are of us. I mind shortly after Kenmure Street a similar raid was attempted in Edinburgh, shit was called off before I got my boots on
600 ICE agents were supposed to be deployed to Canal Street. Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered instead.

Quick summary by me:

Now that she has been informed that it is a pie, as it says on the menu, this woman has changed her order to the salmon (with a whole bunch of modifications), which would be fine* if we hadn’t already done the ordering for next week based on the original preorder that we had!

*annoying, not fine
Doesn’t help that it came hot on the heels of me having to reply to a customer explaining that the key word in Beef Steak Pie is not in fact Steak and that it would not be possible to cook the steak rare in a pie. That response had to go through committee.

Well I managed to make it a month before backsliding to as angry and over it as I was at the start of October so that’s something, and at least this is the quietest time of year with no discernible uptick in the number of Utter Fucking Morons that I have to deal with!

It would be really cool to get Mohammad’s photos of his farm in the al-Mawasi camp published as a book or an art exhibit! Can anyone help?
Hello friends, greetings from Gaza. I'm thinking of selling photos of my farm; I have over 100 pictures of barley, radishes, arugula, and onions. I know it's possible, but I don't have the experience. Please, if anyone can help me with this, I would be very grateful.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla
T-Mobile
Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

Hong Kong fire and Grenfell are just alike. Fire spreading through unsafe building materials installed due to penny-pinching, killing dozens. One difference: before the HK fire is even out three executives at contractors have been arrested, eight years after Grenfell no-one has been arrested.

You'll be extremely unsurprised to see that the vast majority of the tax comes from London/Southeast

Shoutout to Poole - the only exception actually visible on this chart (the interactive version on the website reveals all the details when you touch/move the mouse over)
