I made an image of all the art posted by US DOL on X since approximately Labor Day
Logically one can’t make a rational prediction without a roadmap. Therefore comments like this are just wishcasting. The rational comment would be: computers will help us with complex data analysis, but that’s a comment anyone could have made in the last fifty years, which doesn’t give you headlines
Here’s the thing: if this tech was really great, it still would have only produced something mediocre at best. But the tech is objectively shit. I have no doubt you can use similar LLM type tech in a functional game engine, but this is garbage all around
Oh my god some fucking tech dingdong posted this on Twitter with the caption "AI games are going to be amazing" totally seriously, you have to watch it. You have to. In full screen.
Irony detector shatters into a thousand fragments, never to be reconstructed again
Ok but when President Biden was out of office he once loaned his brother a couple of grand without interest, or “both sides have financial quirks” according to the Times’ retelling
For those for whom “trump posts video of him shitting on the American people” was too subtle, now we have “trump literally demolishing the White House”
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

It also helps strengthen the resolve of opposition leadership esp at a time when they’re making a difficult political decision to not budge on opening the government w/o good faith negotiations
There’s an inherent utility in demonstrating that the ruling party’s policies are hurting everyday folk, and without a direct microphone to the rest of the American people the only way to do this is through mass events
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.

as far as just messaging goes that video is probably the most embarrassing thing any president has done on the world stage in my life

and the fact that the sunday shows wont even describe it? total abdication of their responsibility
By saying “appeared to be AI” this implies the Times thinks there’s a credible chance it really was him flying a jet and shitting on the American people
President Trump posted what appeared to be an A.I.-generated video on social media showing him wearing a crown and flying a jet labeled “King Trump” that dumps brown liquid on protesters. He shared the video on Saturday, the same day that protesters participated in mass “No Kings” demonstrations.

Pretty much where I am as a developer: they can be helpful but the claims they'll 10x everyone's productivity, and the desire of orgs to force it down everyone's throat/replace skilled labor with dross, are wild unwarranted hype that also drowns out rational discussion on their legit pros and cons
"I have a decent fluency in LLMs, and they have utility, but the absurd degree of over-hype, the way they're being forced on everyone, and the insistence on ignoring the many valid critiques about them make it very difficult to focus on legitimate uses where they might add value."
I'm pretty sure there's a good reason why trump and jr's parents aren't having children, and it's not acetaminophen or whatever conspiracy theory he's talking about here
RFK Jr: "Today the average teenager in this country has 50% of the sperm count, 50% of the testosterone of a 65 year old man. Our girls are hitting puberty 6 years early ... our parents aren't having children."
[ROG Xbox Ally X] It's wild to me there isn't actually an OG Xbox chip / emulator / something in there and it's basically just as below: a semi-branded, hobbled, small-screen laptop with a basic frontend
Is it actually just a branded laptop with joysticks?

29 year old me is rioting in the streets.
LMAOOO WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE NEW XBOX HANDHELD COMES WITH MICROSOFT TEAMS AND ONEDRIVE INSTALLED??? this is the fucking goofiest company in games
This will probably be successful. In my experience most business leaders see interviews as PR and genuinely feel betrayed when a reporter actually does their job and asks hard questions or digs up info that could be harmful to the company, while there’s a large audience for pure inspo porn
this is the dumbest shit i have ever read

Or web apps if they get better device/low level access and native APIs
Honestly at the rate that Microsoft is pulling shit Linux might actually have a shot.
I'm not saying this is bad, but not being able to mask is like the table-stakes requirement to begin the negotiation process. What's a real set of preconditions would be a requirement to follow basic rules of engagement, not swarm courthouses, due-process, full transparency re: folks are being moved
This is good: Rep Eric Swalwell tells me House Dems are now discussing making an end to mask-wearing a precondition for ICE funding.

"When we are in the majority, the masks are coming off," he says.

This is the next frontier in anti-Trump resistance.

There’s one simple pledge Democrats can make to voters about ICE that’s easy to understand and will have broad support.

PHILOMENA CUNK: It was actually illegal in England for The Obese to be employed in the film business until 1983. Why do you think that was?
JIMINY GLICK: [ignoring question, high pitched voice] Have you ever noticed how lesbians and British women dress the same? [sudden low pitch] Why is that?
If they genuinely feel Antifa is an organization and a terrorist organization at that, they wouldn't be characterizing their activities as "really frustrating"
Sean Duffy: "The No Kings protest, Maria, really frustrating. This is part of antifa, paid protesters. It begs the question who's funding it."
Once again the cowards at the Nobel committee have refused to award me the Prize for quote-reshares
The Sora watermark was a telltale sign a video was AI-generated, so of course the first thing folks on the internet do is add the watermark to real videos and create tools to remove it from fake ones.
I think a more specific explanation is they’re misinformed but with motivated reasoning to accept the misinformation
When people claim to be voting based on some problem that doesn’t exist, be it food price inflation, crime increases, or immigrant caravans, “they’re lying and/or misinformed” IS the most parsimonious explanation.

“They’re expressing sublimated anger over something else” is much more convoluted.
One Piece is a story about pirates that says the ruling class are the real pirates. The World Government are hereditary capitalist elites using a combinaton of historical censorship, slavery, state violence, and fearmongering over the threat of piracy to extract resources and keep the people subdued
thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about
