A number of games made use of StreetPass features too, like speeding up rebuilding Norende in Bravely Default, or coins for steps that could be spent to revive yourself in Shin Megami Tensei IV. I miss things like that, too.

With the loneliness epidemic on the rise, we could use the Nintendo 3DS's StreetPass feature and the sense of togetherness it fostered more than ever. @faroukk.bsky.social on the decline of physical community in gaming:
I Miss Nintendo 3DS StreetPass, and Games as Physical Community
With the loneliness epidemic on the rise, the Nintendo 3DS StreetPass and its sense of in-person community is sorely missed.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Because SE's QA people are probably not in a position to defend themselves and their jobs in public, I want to spell out some of what it is they specifically do for us localizers, because nothing I've written here is rhetorical. SE QA acts as a final check on our work after translation and editing.
You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.
Square Enix wants 70% of its QA work to be handled by generative AI by the end of 2027, in partnership with the University of Tokyo's Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory. https://bit.ly/4qKdyQR

Given that Rockstar is famously anti-labor, to the point that they have a culture of 100-hour work weeks for big projects, and refused to credit devs who worked on a game if they weren't on the team when it shipped, I'm believing the union.

If you lived 15 years, switched bodies and genders, spent 15 years like that, would you swap if the opportunity came? Lots on what it means to embody a self, another, and live truthfully that shook me
