What got me was when they took down a perfect hundreds year old oak tree to make way for this monstrosity they’re building. There was something so symbolic and indescribably sad about that to me. The house and the grounds have seen so much history and stood solid for so long. Only for… THIS shit.

Super cool find at one of our state parks today :) I’ve never noticed one in the wild before, and this turned into a great learning opportunity for a couple kids. :)

I’d like to redo that now that I have more skill and nicer yarns available. When I was making it, it was not enjoyable and hurt my hands, but my tension was too tight and it’s an acrylic without a lot of give.
Same 😆

Currently working on a lovely orange/brown cardigan. And just got some lovely mustard/goldenrod yarn for the next project.

I am not ashamed to admit I love pumpkin spice 😆
It’s not entirely done, I didn’t bother with the duplicate stitching. But it’s a great pattern and I want to make another, as it’s too small now for kidlet. (It’s available on www.nancybatesdesigns.com if you search for “monarch”)

The first hat is the Musselburgh pattern (available on ravelry)

The second is basically self drafted, but I used “patriotic hat” by Joy Macdonell for reference.

Third is “monarchs of the central coast” by Nancy Bates. You can search for it at her website :)
I’m partial to this but feel like not many get the reference 😆
I’ve thought about it, but am pretty good with the style I use. Though sometimes if I’m getting real tired, I’ll mix it up by mirror knitting instead of purling when doing miles of flat stockinette.
I just cannot master purling while holding yarn in my left hand. The Norwegian purl is doable but still seems fiddly.

I’ve taken to a flicking English style, knit and purl are almost exactly the same motion that way.
My short one just told me that I have lots of grey hairs, but it’s ok because they just make my hair look shiny.

Thanks?

(Though part of me welcomes this, my transformation to swamp witch has begun)
YES! to the library. Ours has a great selection of instructional and pattern books, and a weekly group meets there as well :)
Linen stitch might be really pretty with this as well. Or a slip-stitch colorwork pattern or brioche with a complementary solid color.
Gorgeous gradient! Perfect for that pattern :)
These came out so cute! I have this pattern saved, thinking of making them for my mom :)
Whether you’re in the mood or not, it’s beautiful :)
A binder with heavy duty page protectors or pencil pouches can work really well too for holding needles, cords, etc.
I like the little safety pin/bulb stitch markers, and they’re cheap.

For needles/notions, I have an old fashioned fold-out sewing box. I’ve seen people use over the door shoe organizers for yarn and needles too.
and will cover the vast majority of what you want to make, and is more cost effective than buying needless as you go (and also lets you experiment with gauge before starting a project (you may need a different size than what is recommended in the pattern).
Project bags aren’t super necessary. I use small totes or random bags I’ve accumulated over the years, or a fancy pack for small projects.

I wouldn’t go hog wild until you’re sure you’ll stick with it, but once you do that, interchangeable circular needle sets are very nice…
Starting a new hoodie for kid. He wore through the elbows on the last one, so this time we’re going with a more rustic wool.

And since I need some comfort food, Practical Magic to keep me company
