Primary reaction to Zootopia 2 is they REALLY leaned in to being furry-forward.

I've had success convincing people to try a password manager by explaining that you only ever have to remember one password from here on out — the one to your pw manager.
but anyway if you don't use a password manager, you are stupid! 1password is my choice for a paid one, but bitwarden and proton pass both have free password managers that are also good

I used this link recently to track down a distant theater showing Wake Up Dead Man. Worth the trek! It's a fucking great Benoit Blanc movie. Go see it on the big screen if you can. It's so good as an immersive experience.
For those in the US - this is the best way to find if there's a theater near you playing our movie when it opens 11/26. Sadly no AMC on this run, but Landmark, Alamo and other wonderful chains can keep it running as long as they want, even past the 12/12 Netflix drop. www.wakeupdeadmanfilm.com

I guess this is a long-standing thing, but is it really a good idea for journalists to be giving gifts to their subjects?

Wrote too many words about Wake Up Dead Man, which I believe is the best of the Knives Out trilogy and Rian Johnson’s most vulnerable film. It really resonated with me as someone who left the church but has complicated feelings about faith.

If he's been sitting on actual news about Butler instead of writing the story for a major credible outlet (that would pay him a shitload for it), then that would be a major scandal on top of whatever his story is.

UPDATE: Halfway through Season 4 of For All Mankind and while it's got a few rough spots, it's a significantly better show than S3. The black market on Mars is exceptionally well done, and Daniel Stern is helping me tolerate the earthside political maneuvering.
I realize I'm a few years late with this take, but I've almost finished 3 seasons of For All Mankind, and to this point it's a wildly entertaining space adventure and also rage-inducingly awful at virtually anything that's not "astronauts solving space problems".

Don't know if Campbell addressed Wizard of Oz, but I do know that in a previous life as hs English teacher, I used the final day of fall semester to show Finding Nemo in preparation for reading Huck Finn.

For an example that might be more visible for folks, see: baseball. At youth levels, shelling out exorbitantly for travel ball is functionally the only way to play competitively, and the minors barely pay a living wage, so the Americans who are reaching MLB tend to come from comfortable backgrounds.
This is one of those things that rarely gets talked about that has had a massive effect.

As fields like journalism, art, and academia were collapsed and living expenses skyrocketed they came to skew increasingly toward people whose families could afford to supplement their income.
If you're ever wondered why journalists seem so out of touch most of the time it's because in order to establish yourself you need to either come from money, marry into money, or be OK with abject poverty and daily financial panic

That third thing is unsustainable long-term

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
