Y'all, I know two hours is a big time commitment, but this panel I arranged and hosted last month is one of the most important things I've ever done for video game history. The launch of the NES is a crazier story than most people realize, and my guests were extremely generous with their memories.

We've spent the last few months camping at TX State Parks whenever we get a chance. These parks are not for rich people. And they're absolutely beautiful. They are a generational legacy of our commitment to each other. That we all deserve to swim and fish and play around natural beauty.
I absolutely cry when I read the signs about them in the State Parks. I got a soft spot for that New Deal Socialism.

This is what socialism in it's infancy was meant to address. For a minute in the US, FDR made the rich grapple with creating a stable society. Then LBJ said that had to extend to non white people. The rich said nope, had their Reagan Revolution.
The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

I don't care one bit about arguing theory. Just do UBI and M4A and give us a fucking minute to reorganize. A few years to see what we can create.

Just had a weirdly extended conversation with my server at the restaurant as I managed to order entirely in French and just remembered that earlier today I went into a phone accessories store, explained (in French) that I didn't speak French, was a tourist from Canada, and --

Of course this won't happen but imagine what an absolute blessing it would be for any city if the million biggest assholes in it left.

3/ $ b/c a RI District Court judge "explicitly ordered" the admin "to restart SNAP payments immediately" writing the USDA "could make either full payments to SNAP recipients by Monday or partial payments by Wednesday."

I still don't know how those two deadlines were chosen; reports don't explain.

2/ Trump "opted against using other funds to sustain the program, meaning it may have enough money to provide only about half of eligible households’ total food stamp benefits in November. It also remained unclear when food stamp recipients might actually receive their aid."

Trump is only releasing

Let people know: this is entirely the GOP's fault.

"42 million Americans who receive food stamps will get only partial payments from the federal government this month, after the Trump administration told a federal judge that it would not tap additional funds."

listen we may have lost our family business, made our kids miserable, had to live in a barn with goats and lost $50,000 to a local Russian slumlord, but at least we dont have to see gay people in public

This is pretty terrible news for NWT as the weather chills and people stay indoors more. If we had the Novavax Covid vaccine available in Canada, this wouldn’t be an issue because to only needs to be refrigerated.
Limited COVID-19 vaccines available for N.W.T. residents due to spoiled doses | CBC News
In a news release Friday, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) said the supply of vaccines is limited due to a “temporary cold-chain issue”.

Not sure how to do this but dear councillors and new mayor the University is here to help you. We have an existing agreement to help you research anything you need evidence for. I mean not just me. Anyone. It’s called the Urban Alliance agreement
Good morning from Calgary city hall!

The organizational meeting will determine who will make up the various boards and committees.

Suicide rates go up significantly from 15-19 to the 20-24 age group …

The idea that the Murder-Suicide-Psychosis machine is “safe for adults” is … not supported by the data at hand.

What this action is saying is that AI companies think they can get away with Adult suicides but not Minor suicides

Your BONES 🦴 are WET💧.

Sorry, I know that's a weird thing to tell someone, but it's:
A. True.
B. Important, for reasons.

Your bones are about 30% water by weight & an adult skeleton contains ~3.2 liters of water, a little less than a gallon.

Cosigned, although Poilievre entering another election with a net -58 approval rating does feel like interesting territory for me, and another loss would virtually guarantee him getting turfed next year.
Canadian politicians better figure stuff out and negotiate because I'm sure I'm not the only one who's disgusted by the thought of another election already! Poilievre needs to get his security clearance and stop lying, I bet he wants us to not bother to vote, only way he can win #cdnpoli

Imagine if Canada was investing in research and universities, instead of burning everything down.
A poll from the journal Nature found that 75% of researchers in the U.S. are considering leaving the country. That includes a man who’s been dubbed the "Mozart of Math." (This PBS story on the scientific brain drain is heartbreaking & ominous for medicine, imo.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLvO...
