I wrote the first version of this draft almost exactly a year ago, but I wasn’t ready.

One basic rule of constructive discourse is to avoid straw men: describe a person’s position in a way they agree with. Did the No Kings rally goers think of them as “hate America” rallies? Obviously not. Do Young Republican leaders think of themselves as Nazis? Obviously yes.

I mean this is viscerally upsetting because it's really genuinely him treating the white house like it's his own personal property; he's the king and it's his palace. No other president ever thought like this, even if they were a fucking horrible person, because it goes against our founding creed

Once again, one reason Trump says & does whatever he wants is bc every societal institution, including the media, has totally normalized & internalized the idea that the laws, the Constitution, & the international treaties we have signed & ratified simply don’t apply to this one guy.
