That sounds pretty typical to a lot of groups, unfortunately. I'm sorry you went through that. It sucks having to lie around other trans people.

The groups in my area are much better now. There's a good mix of trans men, trans women, and non-binary people. I'm happy to see that.

No problem. That's very true.

When I was younger, social transition was a requirement for any medical transition, and all of the trans groups were very focused on that.

As a weird agender person, I didn't fit into those expectations, so getting help to transition was pretty much impossible.

They seem to hate all of it. They're certainly doing everything they can to stop people from medically transitioning as well.

That's why I don't like trying to divide the community. There are many ways to be trans, and all of us are under attack. We all need to stick together.

I apparently can't leave the country because of the X on my passport, which has nothing to do with medically transitioning.

Conversion therapy will probably be legal in all 50 states. Multiple states have laws requiring teachers to deadname, misgender and out students.

When we say “everyone should mask” we don’t actually expect people will. We know how selfish people are. But we say it because:

1) it’s factually true

2) if even a few people listen to us that’s a few more lives saved and, as the Talmud says, every life is a universe.

For the "everyone should mask" crowd: If you want to protect yourself, get vaccinated. If you want to add a layer of protection, wear a mask. If you fear getting infected despite those 2 precautions, avoid going where you believe the risk is elevated. Don't expect the world to take care of you.

late dx autistic people didn’t get to grow up as ourselves, we grew up playing a masked version of ourselves to try and avoid humiliation and punishment.
and now, as adults we spend what feels like an eternity learning which parts of ourselves are truly us, and which parts we created for our safety
