Israel is reportedly using delays in returning the bodies of the Israeli detainees as a pretext to breach the ceasefire. As journalist Nour Odeh notes, the agreement did not specify a timeline for the handover, and Israel was already aware it could take weeks or even months to complete.

A reminder that Hamas signed an agreement with Fatah and other factions in December 2024 on the formation of a technocratic committee to govern Gaza after the war and then Hamas insisted on this provision being put into ceasefire deals in January and March 2025—only for Israel to remove it.
