Everything police do and say is a political statement.
johnpfaff.bsky.social
Also, just for the record, police ALWAYS threaten to quit when someone they don’t like (ie, someone who threatens anything but the most superficial of change), and they never do.

But it always gets taken at face value, not as the genuinely *political* statement it is.

CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

Universities considered “the best” (and many others) have transformed themselves into great factories of unlearning, cathedrals to ignorance. This was already the case, to be sure, but Palestine forced the hands of the trustees & donors who don’t want their money undermining their social position.

Most people are rightly horrified when they learn the real situation in Palestine and are forced to see the human toll of Zionism. They see the Jim Crow South and apartheid South Africa in the daily insults & abuses of occupation, the Third Reich in the obsessive race laws and genocidal bombings.
A Pew Research Center survey last week reported that nearly six out of 10 Americans, 59%, now hold a negative view of Israel, while
39% believe it is "going too far" in its war in Gaza - compared with 31% who held the same view a year ago, and 27% who thought this just two months after the war started. A poll from the same organization in 2022 showed 42% with negative views.
The anti-Israel swing is confirmed by other polls. A recent New York Times/Siena poll showed pro-Palestinians sympathies outscoring support for Israel - albeit narrowly, by 35% to 34%.
An Economist/You Gov poll in August found that 45% of the public believe Israel is committing genocide - a charge Israel vociferously denies - compared with only 31% who disagreed. About four in 10 American Jews believe the same, according to a new Washington Post poll. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/08/us-israel-relationship

Too bad Biden didn't have any leverage at all and just had to take "no" for an answer
Israel's dependence on the United States was stated bluntly by retired IDF Maj.
General Yitzhak Brick in an interview earlier this week.
"All of our missiles, the ammunition, the precision-guided bombs, all the airplanes and bombs, it's all from the U.S. The minute they turn off the tap, you can't keep fighting. You have no capability.... Everyone understands that we can't fight this war without the United States. Period."

@prisonculture.bsky.social Think you'll like Ursula K. Le Guin saying bring back I statements, lol.

“There was quite a long time when poets used ‘you’ when they meant ‘I,’ but didn’t want to say so. ‘You walk down the street and you feel…’ No, I don’t! Talk about yourself! Don’t dump it onto me.”

If you’re looking to help rebuild Gaza a farmer and a civil engineer seems like a good person to help ❤️

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Mohammed. Mohammed was finishing his studies to be a civil engineer in Rafah. His home and the small farm that him and his family had were destroyed. He’s now trying to survive with his large family, including many small children, in tents.

A drunk woman, who is usually kind to me and my dog, stomped on Lucy's paw last night. Lucy is okay, but the entire incident shook me to my core.

Protect your vulnerable loved ones. In a society where people are rewarded for being cruel, cruelty becomes the norm.

ICE exists to serve the prison industrial complex. They needed to create a fake crisis to justify even more mass incarceration. The US is a prison state.

Palestinian journalist Shadi Abu Seed was one of those released yesterday. He recounted his mistreatment in prison, where he was told that his family had been killed, which he only yesterday discovered was another lie. There are thousands of others with stories like his.
Shadi Abu Seed, one of the Palestinians released from prison, on Al Jazeera Shadi Abu Seed, one of the Palestinians released from prison, on Al Jazeera looking with disbelief as he holds his child again “I went hungry for the past two years. I swear to God, they didn’t feed us. They kept us naked. They beat us while we were naked. Day and night we were tortured. Till our last day in Israeli prison, they cut us and hit us and abused us. We ensured every kind of torture—emotional, and physical. We couldn’t even sleep. They threatened us with our children. They told me they killed my children. They told us that Gaza was destroyed. I arrived here and found that everything was gone. It looked like the end of the world. Everything is different.”

We honor the legacy of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a fierce protector of our collective freedom. Our hearts are with her loved ones and all who carry her vision forward.

An illustration of Miss Major surrounded by candles with blue background and a famous quote of hers written in gold. The quote reads“I don’t need their permission to exist; I exist in spite of them. I want you to train and teach and love on and create families within my community and gender non-conforming people, so that we can understand that we have a culture, we have a history, we have a reason to be here. We have a purpose. We’re entitled to be loved, and seek happiness, and share that with the people that we care about.” -Miss Major Griffin-Gracy

Palestinian detainee Mohammad Hashem Nuwara was released yesterday as part of the prisoner exchange deal after spending nearly 25 years in Israeli prisons.
A thin man with short dark hair and a trimmed beard stands indoors, appearing frail and weary. He is wearing a light blue Nike jacket over a black shirt and black pants. His expression is subdued and distant, and his posture slightly slouched. Another person, partly visible on the left, extends an arm toward him as if to greet or support him. The background shows a brown sofa and a wooden panel with a leaf pattern. The overall mood of the image suggests exhaustion or recovery after hardship.

Another good time to remind people that “tear gas” is a term of copaganda that police, the military, and its manufacturers use to obscure that it is a dangerous chemical weapon internationally banned for use even in warfare.
