Hello, new followers! Presumably you know this, or else why would you be following me, but I'm Fred. I natter on about this and that. I work in academic publishing, have edited and published @kaleidotrope.bsky.social for almost 20 years, and very occasionally write short fiction, most recently this:

There seems to be some confusion about whether they're called "skeets" or "posts" or whatnot. For anyone new to Bluesky, the proper term is "kaleidotropes." As in "did you read that new kaleidotrope? OMG!" I swear, try it and see!

The Night Stalker feels very much like a ‘70s TV movie, but it’s a really good one. McGavin’s good in the role, and it’s not hard to see why they made another one of these shortly thereafter and then a series.

He means that if Mamdani wins, Trump will attempt to use the military to overthrow the civilian government, whereas if Cuomo wins, he will simply do whatever Trump wants

Amazingly, despite knowing how indebted the X-Files was to it, and despite having capped “enough Kolchak to kill a donkey,” I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen any of it, movies or series.
