At the risk of repeating myself...
I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who's taken a chance on Kaleidotrope all these years, for the readers who've championed the stories and poems in its pages, for the writers and artists who let me to consider their work. Kaleidotrope would not exist without you, and for that, you have my thanks.

I used ChatGPT once, years ago, for a Kaleidotrope newsletter, back when it seemed novel and I was less informed about its ethical and environmental problems. It didn’t inspire to use it a second time.

Some great selections here!
Of course, proud to share "Affinity Gradient" by Miah O'Malley. But also loved reading "Singularities" by Cressida Roe (at Kaleidotrope) and "Ghosts of Summer" by Catherine Tavares (at Apex).

I’d love to be open to submissions for more than just three weeks in the whole year, but there are a lot of reasons—not least that I’ll be reading for 1-2 years ahead—that that’s just not feasible or fair.
The plan for 2026 is to be open to submissions these three times:

April 19-25
July 19-25
October 18-24

I’ll be updating Kaleidotrope’s submissions guidelines page accordingly soon.
Do you have a specific date for opening back up for submissions in 2026? If you care to share...

Complete with approximate word counts for each story—if, you know, that was important to you, for award season or whatever! 🙂
Wondering which 48 stories and 28 poems Kaleidotrope published in 2025?

Well, friends, wonder no more!

Very grateful to @bookjockeyalex.bsky.social for picking my multiverse love story “Singularities” as one of this month’s must-reads! That little piece had such a long and hard road to being out in the world, and I’m so delighted by all the love it’s received. Go check out the full list here!

“Singularities” by @eggandcressida.bsky.social (Autumn ‘25) “is a story about stories. It’s also a clever use of the multiverse trope.” 😀

Some of us are born with certain gifts, as @devanbarlow.bsky.social shows in the new fantasy story “Dybbuk-Draw.” Don’t we have a responsibility, then, to use those gifts to help?
