I have been called several variants of this, yes.

Yeah, I just think trees, forests, forest systems, forest products, and forest management are the coolest, so, I plant trees lol

I run into it a lot over here. There are a bunch of techbros who are trying to make money off of planting trees, and this is how they pitch it as a "you can just plant trees and claim it covers for all of your unmitigated carbon emissions" to big companies like Amazon.

It's a huge scam.

People just show up at my house with dead deer bc they know I'll butcher it in exchange for the heart.

Pan fried deer heart is a delicious treat

It feels very weird to have such an absolute lad as Pontiff. Like a Pope you know has gone to town on a big thing of wings.

Jack Smith in conversation with Andrew Weissman

This is the kind of person we need as Attorney General: someone with clear vision and the courage to act.

Yeah I think these people are talking about planting trees for carbon credits, or like, planting trees and not changing how we do things (ie: not switching to alt energy etc)

Americans pay some of the highest prices in the world for health care, and Leigh McGowan knows that first hand.

Democrats are fighting to lower health care costs. Instead of helping to fix this crisis, Republicans are shutting down the government.
Leigh McGowan says: I was offered life insurance because I was turning 30. They said, "You can get a really low premium if you do it now. I thought, "Life insurance? I'm 29.”

Literally two years later, I had a terminal disease and now I don't qualify for life insurance. So, anytime you think you're healthy and you don't need health care, get health care.

And if we start messing with the system now, it is all of us who are going to fall through the cracks.
Leigh McGowan says: My entire family is on the ACA, but I have a very rare disease. So, I am not one of those people that even if the premiums go up, I can just go off of it. One of my drugs costs $130,000 a month. One of my drugs.

Senator Warren responds: If Trump and the Republicans succeed and keep ramming these cuts through, there are going to be millions more people who have no coverage.

Aside from losing many Democratic seats, Black representation in Congress will probably drop from around 14% of seats (nationally representative) to maybe 7 or 8% (not representative)?

when I was working as a timber sale administrator, the worst was the bald-faced hornets that would set up shop after ops were complete. there was so much slash on the ground for them to use for nest building, and so many wildflowers/caterpillars... I had to wear mosquito netting bc of them

One good way to tell if somebody really spends a lot of time on the land, and understands forest structure is by their views on deer populations.

With maybe 125,000+ invasive sika deer in Wicklow alone, this is what native forest creation looks like.

• No woodland flora can grow
• Oak aside, trees flop over once tube is removed, deer then kill tree
• Trees may not even be genuinely native

For our forests' sake, a LOT more deer must be shot.

The pocket forest of native broadleaf tree established by Scouting Ireland at it activity centre at Lough Dan was only possible by using tubes to protect the saplings from bracken & deer/sheep grazing. My image from Aug shows bracken density.
timberdoodlydoo.bsky.social
wait, are y'all not using Tubex tubes?

Tubex are large diameter and have a perforation seam, so you can leave them on til the tree pops it off when it reaches like 6" dbh.

BECCS — attempting to capture CO₂ from biomass-burning plants and storing it underground — is the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technique that has sold the most credits. But its climate benefits may be overstated, it could incentivize deforestation, and the carbon accounting might be distorted.
Big Tech’s big bet on a controversial carbon removal tactic
Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage can scale faster than other approaches. But some experts are dubious about the climate benefits.
