I think that's why I spent the evening creating a hypothetical look at what some of that TV Disney suite would look like on a Fire TV guide.

It looks good, but it'll never happen. Disney's not that cool.

Huh... something new has been added to WGNT 27's grid identity.

Apparently, the Scripps-owned independent station has new branding - The Spot Norfolk.

Apparently, Scripps has added the branding to several indie channels recently, including in Las Vegas, Tampa, and Phoenix.

At least it's a brand.

WGNT's new on-air branding, The Spot Norfolk 27, a skewed rectangular shape with the words "the spot" written in a serif typeface and "NORFOLK 27" written in a small sans-serif typeface inside it.

the worst trend in female character design for anthropomorphic characters in media has to be the absolute refusal to give women snouts.

Whenever a Tron movie comes out, it usually means Disney is in trouble. And curiously, it usually corresponds to whatever problem Disney is going through at the moment.

1982 - trying and failing to expand to older audiences
2010 - inability to make a major blockbuster
2025 - nostalgia as a crutch

If anything, Tron is Disney’s “oh shit” franchise, that tends to come out whenever Disney is in a rut at the box office. OG Tron was during the pre-Eisner Dark Age. Legacy was during the pre-Avengers era where Paramount still had the MCU and Disney was putting out shit like Mars Needs Moms

Oh, come off it Disney, you never put the plug in in the first place. You'll do what you always do, make a Tron movie, it'll get a lukewarm shrug from general audiences, you'll forget about the franchise for a couple of decades, then go "hey, let's try that Tron thing again!"

of the majors, I think Google and Microsoft are well-positioned to stop capex if the profits come in too low to justify the investment and then buy back investor loyalty with stock buybacks. NVIDIA is probably in for a big correction because they can't do this. in this world OpenAI is dead.
