Good section on that in his autobiography. He showed another guitarist (from memory Ike Turner, but might have been someone else) and they were at first befuddled then wild about it's possibilities

I’m no expert on the world of alternate and open tuning, but yes, sort of. Keith Richard explored this further by taking the low E off his most famous Telecaster, tuning the rest of the strings to form a G chord, and happily slid his finger up and down the neck for perfect chords.

You've got it. Once you know about tuning 'half step down' you'll find there's a lot of it about. I think it makes life easier for some singers, too.

Yes. Everything goes down by one fret, so your previous E chord (022100 fingering) becomes an E flat. So one fret up is an E. Why bother? Lower tuning was more consistent with JH’s voice (better low than high), made it easier to bend heavy gauge strings, and he got a better tone - more sustain.

but tbh id heard a number of the explanations for hendrix's tone (strung upside for left handed play, long coiled cable, etc) but since getting into guitar gear a few years ago, the bulk of it is the fuzz face pedal with the guitar volume knob rolled down

A lot do that, Slash always, think Cobain quite often too.
It makes it a bit easier to do bend n stuff and much less likely for the string to break.

Guitar nerds. Someone at the Handel/Hendrix house said that that Hendrix would tune his guitar down to Eb. Didn’t explain why but now seems to me a great idea - so you can play a bar chord E on the first fret? I’m probably missing something though.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.
