I’ve been drawing the Enterprise since I was like 5 and I have only slightly more (nonsense) understanding of all the parts now than I did then. I, you know, observed what all the bits and pieces and the whole looked like, and I copied it. A lot.

Are you okay? You can just...look at one and copy what you see. You can observe it and pay attention to it. And then draw it.

I mean, I say it’s baffling, but it’s not really. It’s completely understandable. I get why babies don’t have object permanence as well. Just frustrating that some of these babies are 30 something influencers, so to speak.

It’s baffling to me that people treat alt text (and masking) like we’re asking them to wear five layers of special Mormon underwear at once while squeezing into their wool clothes that we put through dryer by mistake, when we’re actually just asking them to not cough or piss directly in our faces.

But if I say hold on a second, maybe everybody’s lives matter, trans people are people (including me), they see that as disrespectful disagreement, hate speech even, with no hint of self-awareness on their part. That’s how they process the world, it’s all they know: there’s them and there’s others.

The thing is, I am respectful in my disagreements, to a fault. But since they’ve quite disrespectfully disagreed with me, they see disagreement as inherently disrespectful and moreover, inherently something done by others.

I don’t want to argue against this, but the thing for me is that… it’s often literally easier to do 100% of the project even though 30% takes less time, because a lot of projects involve getting all the pieces out, and putting them away and getting them out again takes more effort than just…

I saw something recently that said a strategy for adhd is you just need to commit to doing 30%. The full scope of 100% of a project is just too overwhelming. So just start with some thumbnails or sketches for now and then commit to another 30% another day or week. Any progress IS progress

I mean, fuck Probert. He’s easily the best, most important Trek designer in the franchise tied with the OG MJ, but besides being a chemtrails fascist, his work in the last 10-20 years sucks.

Seen a worrying number of people discuss various historical situations by saying if there isn’t documentation then it didn’t happen and… I mean yeah, have a healthy skepticism, but you do know that… well a lot is wrong with that but a basic obvious one is that documents can lied on or be destroyed.

I saw a post in a Star Trek fan group where someone asked why the TOS movie uniforms are called monster maroons. About ¼ of the replies were explanations that they got that nickname because they're really hard to make, and the rest were people arguing about whether or not anyone calls them that.

Star Trek: Memory Alpha seems to be what an awful lot of trek writers & fans want and it’s fucking depressing. At least Gump had chutzpah. Sigh. The fact that they want to start it with the Romulan war is just so so backwards.

If they wanted to do a real “west wing”
style show, just… be the office.
