For the newcomers:
Hi, I'm Thad, and I like #StarTrek.

You could say that was a wake up call for Maroon 5.

It's on GOG too, so it should work.

Fuck cancer. I always enjoyed seeing Subrina at various conventions. She will be missed.

I still know my parents' cell numbers because I had them memorized in the long long ago. I occasionally still use this knowledge when filling something out for them.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

I also have it with the figure, but mine isn't sealed.

How my P.E. teachers used to look at me.😂 #StarfleetAcademy #StarTrek

It's very much still in regular use among Star Trek cosplayers, where started being used in the first place.

The time is fast approaching where someone is going to buy this old PC game on GOG, play it, and wonder why it has nothing to do with the show.

Yes, I do think of that first as well. 😅

I was taught it in elementary school.

You mean that thing that the ancient Greeks figured out 2,000 years earlier?

I totally get not being familiar with the term, since it's not like they call them that on screen or anything. It originated in cosplayer circles in the 80s (before they were called cosplayers). It's wild to say that because you haven't heard it, no one says it though.

I saw a post in a Star Trek fan group where someone asked why the TOS movie uniforms are called monster maroons. About ¼ of the replies were explanations that they got that nickname because they're really hard to make, and the rest were people arguing about whether or not anyone calls them that.

a foundational belief of the modern right is that there is no such thing as organic disagreement with their policies, it’s all directed from the top down

they just can’t conceive that ordinary people find them horrifying

Yeah. It's like the moment they added a second show, someone at Paramount got worried we wouldn't know what it was unless we used the exact same font everywhere.

My only complaint is that branding in the Paramount+ era seems to require the words "Star Trek" to be shown in the TOS font and the TOS font only, rather than a font that matches the rest of the logo.

I love that they use the "Galaxy" font used for the Star Trek films, DS9, and Voyager for Starfleet Academy.

I don't think that was abous sex. Immediately after that conversation, they show that character doing some kind of forceful yelling that is physically pushing the other person back. I believe they were talking about that ability.
