Spending $200 million for a 26-acre campus with 900 beds. That is $222,000 per bed. Simply providing people with free apartments sounds a lot cheaper.

In Las Vegas, a $200 million homeless campus is under construction, with half of the money coming from the casino industry amid concerns that homelessness depresses tourism. It promises 900 beds across 26 acres with intensive services, and coincides with new prohibitions on sleeping in public, punishable by up to 10 days in jail.

We have to be more concerned with giving help to the needy than denying it to the so-called undeserving. We have to value compassion more than we fear the embarrassment of being taken advantage of. It's the only way we can survive as a species.

a lot of people would look at me and say I'm not "really" disabled. but the definition of disability is only that something impairs you. it says nothing about whether it impairs you in a way that is immediately visible to others.

You won’t always know a person is disabled unless they tell you

The piece they seem to be missing is that a lot of people are going to just drop coverage. Which has ripple effects on people who maintain coverage (even through employers) and the hospital systems. And it's going to hit rural states the hardest

People are not presenting their “real” selves in interviews. That’s kinda the whole fucking point. And with these interviews increasingly happening over video with both sides deploying AI interventions, it’s just two AIs talking to each other and shaking hands going us, yes, good vibes. Nice fit.
