No you don’t understand, whiteness is the unique qualities that undergird and connect those seemingly-different groups, for example <lists qualities which are universally present in all human societies which have ever existed>
Is this what the kids are talking about when they talk about docs-ing

How a Maryland prisoner died an ‘excruciating’ death from dehydration
Lamont Mealy died of dehydration in an isolation cell at Western Correctional Institution in 2023. A lawsuit claims state officials covered it up.

The spread in explicit use by right-wingers of ideas like “only The West created anything” combined with ones like “evil is incapable of creating, only corrupting that which good has made” has me very worried

To be fairer than perhaps I should be, “content” is vague as words go
I distinctly remember my mom listening to right-wing talk radio (96.9 FM talk) in 2002-03 when I was 14, and amidst the jokes about the Iraq war they were using the same rhetoric about immigrants, war, The Left etc they employed in 2016 and now. Less flippant maybe, but the same policy goals.
Omg a huge account replied to little old me

On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer
I believe the crux of this argument is "consumers will not reduce consumption in response to higher prices" and surely somewhere in all of capitalism there's been some test case which could tell us whether that confidence is justified. This cannot be a novel economic occurrence
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising
nothing against mico its got a nice avatar design but also, crucially, there is nothing to mico to be against, LLMs are not aware and so whether or not I'm nice to the animated blob is less relevant to the world than whether or not I say "bless me" to myself after sneezing
most people who insist $100+ AAA titles won't cause a problem in the industry seem to be very confident that the consumers are bluffing and won't change their purchasing habits in the face of increased prices

its a little selfish of me but I very much want to see that confidence tested
probably the best answer
But can those game cost the exact same for the consumer? This isn't a gotcha I actually don't really know, it seems like the "paid more" part for the devs would translate to more cost for on the consumer end, maybe less work shrinks the dev cost but is it enough to keep the price stable?

I understand the argument, but in trying to close the circle on the "you should want to pay more for games because they cost more" idea, this person uses the modest increase in overall US wages as if there is a binary 'have more/spend more' relationship between wages and leisure spending

ngl this thread seems like the best overall take in all the replies I dragged myself through
Honestly just scrolling through the replies I see a lot of people agreeing or giving thoughtful criticisms and not a lot of whining or repeat arguments so idk this post seems premature
an average US citizen can do a good-enough trump post emulation with a couple of his posts as reference, and idk it just seems implausible to me that a superpower with enormous resources, global reach and a billion citizens would be unable to replicate this feat

Yeah this reminds me of something Teju Cole said, that he didn’t like the “first world problems” hashtag, because it implies that people in developing countries don’t have little frustrations with cell phones or coffee orders or whatever
