It is tacky for really famous people to be in TV commercials for products. Their gambling debts/boat repairs are not my problem, those roles should belong to actors like the Time To Make The Donuts guy and the actress who said "who are you calling a cootie queen you lint licker" in that Orbit ad.

very scary quote from a proponent of three-cueing: "The purpose is not to learn words...the purpose is to make sense." That idea prioritizes looking like you understand versus actually understanding. It's the same idea behind corporate buzzwords. This is teaching children buzzwords, not English.

remember that article that explained why this was happening?

Some days, not too many people are headed to Chicago.

Some days, feels like they all are.
Screen capture from the United Airlines app showing that all upgrades for status are handed out and I’m still 9th in line. I have been flying a fairly decent amount the past two years.

I'm still on Facebook and every so often I'll share something like this. It's an unspoken message about potentially interacting with me, in the same way a poison dart frog's bright skin lets other animals know interacting with it will probably kill them.

So tired of so many “solutions” out there merely being because people are too lazy to read and then think critically.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

If this is what it took for you to be pushed into fascism you were probably already there
This predates the social media wars of the late 2010s: One Trump appointee told me that a radicalizing experience was being booted out of the Gawker comments section, way back in the day. But as progressive movements swept through social media, others were tossed off Twitter and Facebook for stepping over a variety of lines, from allegations of harassment to claims of election misinformation. Pandemic era public health rules and fevered enforcement cost others their accounts.

Men will gatekeep women from any and all physical or virtual third spaces (hell, SECOND spaces, too; look at workplaces) and then wonder why none of them want to spend time around or with them

“More than half of the work done by women in the period between the 16th and 18th centuries took place outside of the home, and around half of all housework and three-quarters of care work was conducted professionally for other households” [England]
