In 2021, then police chief Arradondo campaigned in uniform against the measure that would allow the council to radically restructure the police department (the only serious attempt to defund the police that happened here) and appeared in uniform with Mayor Frey at campaign stops.

Wow, wow, wow. This has always been legally possible but the law has virtually never been enforced — and now this is the SECOND case I've heard of in the last month (first involving a person with a green card) of a noncitizen being charged for failure to carry their papers.

Remember we're already in a world of Kavanaugh stops based solely on ethnicity. If you are from a targeted group, this can happen to you no matter what your citizenship status is. What if you forget your wallet at home? You could end up in detention for days or worse.

There are so many appalling details in this story of an abuse victim being arrested by ICE in her home without a warrant, but as a former flight attendant this part makes me absolutely livid.

ICE is risking thousands of people's safety every day.

Isabela wondered how she would reach the oxygen mask above her head in case of a mid-flight emergency. She imagined the yellow mask dangling idly as she helpless tried to raise her arms above her head, 30,000 feet in the air.

Her hands were cuffed to a chain around her waist, after all.

Isabella listened as the flight crew detailed what to do in case the cabin lost pressure during the commercial flight to an immigration detention center in Louisiana. After the instructions, another passenger loudly asked why they were hearing a presentation if they couldn't do anything with their waists, hands and legs entwined in chains.

A federal agent then walked over and said, "Just ask God."

In a nutshell, both in Chicago and Seattle, ICE will no longer be able to kidnap people off the streets, public spaces can no longer be used by ICE for ANYTHING! No masks. ICE must have ID and show it. Police can now protect residents from ICE.

Let the lawsuits be filed. Go ahead.
