This chills the blood of those of us who remember what happened when Cisco started faltering back in 2000. Dow is now buoyed by 3M and Goldman. If you know, you know.

Pritzker: "Imagine it. Children who woke up that morning, expectant with joy & excitement to put on their costumes & celebrate with their neighbors in what they thought was a safe place at their homes. Armed, masked agents, terrorizing innocent people, especially children, is unconscionable."

Vance’s little speech here is stunning horseshit. He accepts “immigration reduces social trust” as a natural phenomenon without for instance mentioning the role of opportunists arguing that immigrants are stealing and eating their pets, for instance.
JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵
Honestly, if they’d just made this movie instead of AFTERLIFE, I probably would have liked it a lot more.

Paul Rudd is MVP, as usual. Only he could recite the lyrics to the theme song in a way that’s both sincere and dramatically effective, and also a joke funny enough to draw actual laughs.
However, I will admit to liking the more general concept of the Ghostbusters being a second-generation family business. That’s a lot more in keeping with the blue-collar pest control business the original 2 movies imagined. It’s also a good way to have intra-group drama that isn’t just a retread.
My biggest complaints are that the main villain sucks and is boring, and that the movie still insists on being reverent toward the <ugh> Spengler family legacy. Every time somebody talked about what it means to be “A Spengler,” I wanted to gag
Kumail* fucking autocorrect
There’s plenty of good stuff in it. A lot of the lesser ghosts are fun. I thought Kumasi Nanjiani was very funny, even if his whole storyline is dumb as hell. And I was surprised at how much I enjoyed watching Aykroyd back in action. I missed him more than I thought (in general, not just as Ray).
The fact that I just straight up got part of a 3-word title wrong should be an indication of how much I cared for it.
GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN KINGDOM is basically the GHOSTBUSTERS 3 that most fans wanted (or at least expected) once they gave up hope for a straightforward sequel. It’s a live action version of the EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS cartoon.

Legally, this is no different from Iran sinking a Disney cruise in international waters and then saying "it's all good, they were terrorists carrying drugs."

Which is to say, it's wholly illegal and has been for centuries. You couldn't even do this with a Letter of Marque and Reprisal.
Another illegal US maritime strike—again in the Pacific.

Against a vessel allegedly operated by an unspecified "designated terrorist organization."

Four reported fatalities—dubbed w/o ID or evidence "narco-terrorists."

There's a word for premeditated killings outside of armed conflict.

I've built a socioeconomic system that depends on everyone to do useful work and act ethically except the people at the top, who get unimaginable rewards for being antisocial frauds and criminals. And I think it will stand the test of time

Watching the gigantic corporations that dominate our economy become increasingly disconnected from such basic concepts as "we should make products people want to buy" and "making money is a good idea" is slowly driving me insane

HAPPENING NOW: Portland Police Commander Franz Schoening testifies that federal officers on Oct. 18 barraged protesters with crowd control munitions — not because of any violence but because another federal officer accidentally shot tear gas onto the roof of the ICE facility.

"go around the constitution"
Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville doesn’t rule out a Trump 3rd term: “If he says he has some different circumstances that might be able to go around the Constitution—but that's up to him… Will it happen? Very unlikely, but don't ever close the book on President Trump.”
