I mean I think the company's spokesman being incredibly bad at public communications AND being a guy who is pushing back all the dates on material benchmarks they're supposed to hit after they got a massive funding round to make a less successful than anticipated new model says quite a lot.

It's their current revenue generator and they're saying they need decades before they get to real AGI. Do you think they're lying to trick the world so they'll are thought of as weak, at the expense of looking weak to investors? Like what do you think is happening other than failure to hit marks lol

I mean they also very publicly spent loads of money and the product on the other end was absolutely not a clear improvement. I guess maybe it's a skunkworks thing but considering they're now backing off AGI this decade, feels like maybe they're now trying to buy time!

It's also EXCEPTIONALLY clear that they tried to train the model to be more conservative with stating facts to try and game the accuracy models, which only resulted in creating the implication that they may have plateaued since it took so much more money and rigging just to eke out 1 extra % acc

I mean according to OpenAI the goal was unification, they were hoping they could make a model of models that would assess what you wanted and reply without you having to select what kind of model you wanted.

It failed on that end, as well as on improving on prior ends.

Even OpenAI has been saying "We'll see 'real AGI' in 40 years, but we should get to 'almost as good as it' within 5", which is basically them trying to back off their 2030 claim lol
