The funniest part of all the billionaires are building bunker stories is the part where they’re sure the class hierarchy will survive the apocalypse.
www.bbc.com/news/article...

"I once met a former bodyguard of one billionaire with his own "bunker", who told me his security team's first priority, if this really did happen, would be to eliminate said boss and get in the bunker themselves. And he didn't seem to be joking."
Tech billionaires seem to be doom prepping. Should we be worried?
The debate is ramping up about what happens if - or when - computer intelligence overtakes humans

Ye gods, I simply cannot trust a disability services department that not only neglects to turn on captions in Zoom, but also has no idea how to turn on captions in Zoom

We don't tell young writers "You gotta be a huge freakin' weirdo!" often enough.

It's an asset!

So far TODAY Israel has:

- bombed Gaza City
- bombed Khan Younis
- shot and killed five Palestinians in Gaza City
- refused to open the Rafah border crossing
- announced they would once more block aid

This is what a "ceasefire" with Israel looks like. This is what it has always looked like.
OH FFS
Just watched a video (of someone from outside the book community) that started off with the premise “read diverse fiction to combat authoritarianism” and then went on to give 1984 as an example 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway, please follow BIPOC creators who read and recommend actual diverse fiction every single day
I'm in my third month working at the UC Davis Library, and over the course of the past week the temperature's dropped 30 degrees and thunderstorms have rolled in. Strange weather, y'all
I also liked Smile. Haven't watched the sequel
I liked Heart Eyes - not a great work of art, but fun. More of an unsubtle comedy than most of the ones on your list

Why aren’t media outlets unmasking these scumbags?
Why are there so few (none?) news stories about individual ICE agents themselves? Who they are, what motivates them, any moral dilemmas they face? Why aren’t protesters trying to get some to speak out?
It’s nine days post-op and our lil’ agent of chaos is doing so well

Watching him destroy the country to steal more money for him & his rich, evil friends makes me wonder wtf people thought “a businessman running the country” would look like. Have these people never once taken a breath in the US? Please never trust your brain again. It’s bad.

Men claim women talk too much, but boy if you get that man on a panel, he will over talk every woman present in the room.

Zip ties. Crowded cells. Guns trained on bewildered workers. Foul water. Forced vaccinations. An unconscious detainee left on the floor by guards. A pregnant woman in cuffs. These are the details of South Korean nationals’ experiences in ICE detention after the raid on a Hyundai-LG plant in Georgia.
After Hyundai ICE Raid, Even South Korea’s Capitalists Question US Relations
Can the US and South Korea’s tenuous alliance survive Trump’s tariffs and ICE’s raid on a Hyundai-LG plant in Georgia?

This is extremely accurate, and it's why I wish editors got a credit on books. Sometimes you learn who edited a bunch of your favorite books and you're like ah. I see. It's a job that requires a keen literary eye AND people skills, which is a tough mix!
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.
