Yep, and on top of bit depth some also had an even harsher cutoff where colours got pushed to black/white, that ruled out subtle pale gradients on a couple of projects I was involved in

Doing some colour profile adjustment & it’s reminded me of the time I had to change a web site’s colours because the client company’s IT dept had bought everyone terrible monitors and they wouldn’t accept it looked right for the rest of the world

Yeah, I’m always wary of pouncing on stuff wrongly but there are definite details that often feel off, sometimes it can be a simple mismatch where quality of different aspects is weirdly inconsistent
