i know i should post my drawings here because honestly... where else would I. but i keep not doing it. partially, i dont think my pencils scan great. partially, i have so many actual professionals i chat with here & I've gotten pretty good. But I dont want people to evaluate like I was a pro.

I teach all of my classes in an N95 because my gift from having COVID (pre-vaccine) is an autoimmune disease that destroys my kidney function. COVID gave me kidney failure, which will require a kidney transplant. What's the #1 cause of death (aside from CKD) in patients waiting for dialysis? COVID.

Yeah, it sounds like you remember an important part of the post.

The only issue here is that masks DO affect the spread of long covid because someone gets long covid from getting covid from someone who has covid (symptomatic or non symptomatic). And masks are a tool to lessen the spread of covid.

New study just dropped linking shingles reactivation and dementia risk.

You know what reactivates shingles? Covid.

Want to avoid it? Wear a well fitted respirator and give yourself the best odds of avoiding Covid infection.

There’s also a shingles vaccine which may help reduce risk!

This is my thought exactly, I've looked at hundreds of studies (as a layman) and have read nothing that convinces me that COVID is a good thing to catch (or benign). Prevention is always better than cure, i continue to mask in the absence of clean air.

The damaging effects of COVID on our immune system are not up for debate.

It’s not hypothetical.

And it’s not limited to “only the vulnerable”.

This is why many of us mask. Respirators like an N95 do a great job preventing covid.

That is what happened in my friend group. As culture changes and masking and testing are normalized (1) long COVID patients can be integrated into society instead of choosing between isolation & risking their lives (2) AWARENESS of the need for clean air and URGENCY for clean air is built

Culture change could look like 3 major things- masking indoors , dining and drinking OUTDOORS, and TESTING whenever you plan to unmask. Introduce those 3 things to your social circle and always insist on them. “That’s how we ensure no one is left behind in this new era”

Big crowd here at Riverside City Council in support of a resolution supporting local enforcement of recent laws requiring law enforcement (including/especially ICE) to identify themselves. A lot of students speaking out. Continues to be crazy that a ~60% latino city has only 1 latine council member.

Members of the Unpresidented Brass Band were bull rushed & brutalized in the middle of playing "Ghostbusters." One was sent to the hospital and another tackled, arrested, and taken across state lines where she is still being detained.
