This is the way to know me best, not through a list of questions, but as a soul living the journey from grackle terror into grackle stan.

Remember when you tried to tell us “the younger generations don’t think that way.” And “the young people will save us.” There are a lot of great, humane, decent, bright young people out there. But there are also a lot of these young people. And they’re not going anywhere.

even the smartest folks whose takes i otherwise appreciate, who otherwise want to resist fascism themselves & encourage others to, find wearing a mask in, at least, public indoor spaces—to prevent the harms of this administration from impacting others—to be a bridge too far; it’s shameful, frankly.
jamellebouie.net
yeah, i think a commitment to public health obligates you to get vaccinated and, when you are sick, do what you can to avoid spreading that to other people. the demand that one mask at all times in public spaces is, i think, unreasonable.

Gd I wanted to be wrong when I was begging people to be careful in summer 2022 and bingeing AIDS era media as a way to cope. Sigh.

Like imagine what life is when you get *better* because of Nazi war starvation. That’s how they figured this shit out! Celiac sucks, but knowing you have it is better than not, in my experience.

They figured out what celiac was during WWII when kids got better from not having gluten! (It’s been ten years and damn I still miss bread-things.)

Asking again, if you're a UT-Austin grad, to add your name to this open letter. You can also forward it to President James Davis ([email protected]) and the UT Board of Regents ([email protected]).

Spare a thought for the memory of Matthew Shepard. Keep fighting to save LGBTQ+ lives.
mrsbettybowers.bsky.social
On this date, Matthew Shephard died 27 years ago. He was beaten, tortured, and left for dead on fence for being gay. Please keep him and his wonderful mother Judy in your thoughts. And let's all work for a world where such horrific things do not happen to anyone. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Right?! And there’s really no way it’s good for *him* either because that sounds like a way to get a bacterial infection! Cis het men handle your bodies instead of making women learn to not gag challenge, once again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyone who can’t picture Peter Thiel as *that fucking guy* in philosophy class needs more time in humanities classes! The point is a well-rounded education helps you become a well-rounded human who can handle multiple points-of-view, not that it’s a silver bullet against TFG.
brasidas.bsky.social
Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

Also, it’s probably my born-in-the mid-80s perspective, but I’m not casually getting blood on me? Like one hopes they’ve had all the STI tests but blood-borne illnesses are a thing, and you don’t just fuck around that so someone doesn’t need to work out meds?
lenarivkah.bsky.social
Dude here needs to get his meds! The fact that that’s not something he mentions actively working on is wild…

As an example: AI doesn't understand "no." Because the statements "no ketchup on my burger" and "ketchup on my burger" are almost identical to a machine that does not and cannot actually reason. It's only a 2 letter difference.
AI doesn't know 'no' – and that's a huge problem for medical bots
Many AI models fail to recognise negation words such as “no” and “not”, which means they can’t easily distinguish between medical images labelled as showing a disease and images labelled as not showin...

This reminds me of those plaintive “my bf/husband hasn’t brushed his teeth in years and he says I have to stop being grossed out” people—medical issues happen, and maybe there’s no fault. But you do not have to put your mouth on anyone who makes you retch? They gotta figure that out!

This reminds me of how David Lynch said he wanted to keep working but couldn’t because COVID posed too great a risk & people stopped being willing to mask up to protect others.

Enjoyed the New Yorker interview with Tim Curry, a free-wheeling conversation in which there were several sensitive questions about his paralyzing stroke. But oh my goodness, why was there no follow-up at all to this staggering answer? www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
Screenshot of text from the interview:

You’ve always been an incredibly physical performer: your strut during “Sweet Transvestite” in “Rocky Horror,” or the way you run around unfurling the mystery at the end of “Clue.” Do you still feel that in your body? Does that live somewhere in you still?

I think it does, but it’s angry. My mobility is angry to get out. But it’s not happened yet. I do a certain amount of physical therapy. I did a whole bunch of it at Cedars-Sinai, and I got very close, I think, to walking. That was tantalizing. For insurance reasons, I had to withdraw. And I have a visiting physical therapist now, but I can only really do exercises from my bed, which is pretty pathetic. It’s not going to get me walking, I don’t believe.

[I have underlined the sentence "For insurance reasons, I had to withdraw."]

You never know when they’re older! I dropped art as a kid (parental pressure/lack of support, sigh) and came back to it at 30! Am 40 now and art every day.

Wear a mask when you’re sick! Because as much as people who’s politics mostly align with mine want to believe that Covid is over, it isn’t. Declaring it over for the economy when we had proof of the long term chronic effects was Biden doing eugenics, which paved the way for now.

If the US can ever vomit this stupid era out we're gonna need widespread all-ages education on basic facts like when you'd see old billboards or MST3k shorts advertising the concept of hand washing or being good. Stop Using Gasoline To Wash Clothes. Springs Are Ubiquitous & Essential To Modern Life

there is not a Jewish food website celebrating “classic Israeli poutine”, or Texas toast as “classic Israeli bread”, or custard tarts as a “classic Israeli dessert” or “classic Israeli gumbo. you’d think screenshots featuring countless different foods with nearly identical text would clue you in.
purplechrain.bsky.social
these are not real! they are a meme that people have made involving a bunch of different types of food! you are all expressing anger and outrage about something that *did not actually happen*

one of the really revealing parts of this unhinged discourse *about 100% fake screenshots* is from a few months ago the last time the “Israeli poutine” one circulated and someone reacted “Israel continues to prove they have no culture WHICH SMEARS WHITE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE”

Given how eugenicist Western medicine is, and how doctors truly want to be treated like unquestionable gds, this doesn’t surprise me at all.

New article out this month on how doctors become fascists.

50% of German physicians joined the Nazi Party––twice the proportion of any other profession. US doctors today are arguably the most conservative in the world, and we're heading along a similar path.
