I'm thinking that we should all call Fox News and ask them where to pick up our money in advance of Saturday's march since they're reporting that we're all paid protesters.

More Americans are biting their tongues, not because they don’t care, but because they’re afraid to speak.

From DEI to the war in Gaza, people are more afraid to speak their minds now than during the Red Scare, according to a political scientist who has been conducting surveys.

Self-censorship and the ‘spiral of silence’: Why Americans are less likely to publicly voice their opinions on political issues
Nearly half of Americans say they feel less free to speak their minds.

"The man with the most power has expended enormous energy targeting those with the least."

At a moment when the Trump regime is persecuting #LGBTQIA+ people,
and too many Democrats shamefully regard trans people as a political embarrassment,
Mamdani clearly affirms that #TransRightsAreHumanRights.
I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

Government censorship by the party that absolutely does NOT want us to confront oppression and injustice.
Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

Let’s spread this message & make it ours: POTUS: You want to take our people? You’ll have to go through us. All of us. Our neighbors, our colleagues, our students, our teachers, our elected (and unelected) representatives.. You want to take our people? You’re going to have to go through us. #nokings

Trump's Higher Ed compact would destroy the most important driver of innovation, prosperity, and US American strength (also usually the biggest employers in their towns): universities. Everyone should oppose this compact. Join your local chapter of @aaup.org. In NoCo, that's @aaupcsu.bsky.social
A Compact for Control (opinion)
No self-respecting institution of higher education should accept the Trump administration’s unconstitutional terms, Robert Post and Tom Ginsburg write.

That's the only way to play this. The only form of resistance that can work to this kind of authoritarian power-grab is resistance where universities all refuse to voluntarily give up autonomy over what they teach, write, and allow their students and faculty to say.

Then fight in court, one by one.
Start working with your campus chapter of the @aaup.org to raise awareness of this "compact" and ensure your admin doesn't comply. If your campus doesn't have an AAUP chapter, start one to oppose this.
The "compact" is a threat, with the administration explicitly stating that it plans to disfavor universities that don't sign in areas from foreign student visas, student loans, federal contracts as well as grants, and even tax [501(c)(3)] status.

It's a maximalist plan of 1st Amendment violation.

Way to go, America. You got Kimmel unfired. Fabulous. Now do college professors.
Yep. If this country would get behind university faculty the way it got behind Kimmel . . .
Some takeaways from ABC/Disney backtracking on Kimmel:
1) Corps only care about $$
SCOTUS says money is speech. So use your voice! Boycotts work. Collective action works!
2) A huge amount of energy went into helping Kimmel. We need that same energy for book bans & attacks on marginalized creators.

Also very cool and awesome how every Democrat in office gets held personally responsible for uniting the nation but Republican officeholders can say things like "I don't like my opponents and I want bad things to happen to them" and every pundit and journalist in the country just shrugs.
I skipped it, but even the snippets I'm seeing on Bluesky are too much.
