who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

get your money back from the nazi tattoo guy and give it to your local food bank
If you donated to Platner via ActBlue, you can get a refund!

Contact them NOW and ask for your money back!
I donated to his campaign. I was pissed off when it was revealed he worked as a merc, and debating what to do when the tattoo & queerphobic posts came out.

I contacted ActBlue, asked for it to be returned, got an acknowledgement of the return a few hours later; 2 days later it was in my account.

As best I can tell, Trump added at least three mirrors outside at the White House.

This still holds up, and has only gotten worse since the election.

Which of these people is a working-class voter?

Which is an identity politics voter?

The conventional wisdom's answers to those two questions is the root of much confusion about electoral politics in the US and Europe these days.

(my broad view is that everyone is trying to find an easy shortcut rather than the more difficult work of building an actual relationship between the party and both the voters it has and the voters it wants)

i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this

*sorry, it got edited out when i was making the post? he's also talking about women and queer people, tho focused on Black people

white, male, straight are the mold being sought

SeanDaBlack talked about this - about how the feeling he and others are getting is "be quiet, we're trying to talk to white people!" that the push for dems to "be normal" is to be white and straight and male.

Near Milwaukee, two lives intersect in a house that catches fire.

What came before and after shows there’s one kind of justice for those who own and another for those who rent.

The Landlord, the Tenant and a House Fire in Milwaukee
A young mother rents a house near Milwaukee. The previous tenant tells her, “Baby, they shouldn’t have let you move in.”

Trump’s [alleged] authority for country-specific tariffs comes from the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which doesn’t mention tariffs—but *does* require a “national emergency.”

An ad showing that Reagan opposed tariffs surely is not a national emergency. (It may be a personal one)

By supporting Cuomo, all of these people are supporting inexcusable racism and bigotry. Eternal shame.

Yeah and there’s a bot army across social media platforms trying to say they don’t work. When in reality many work and are just STILL below the poverty line. Which should enrage everyone.

Ppl on SNAP are on SNAP bc they are living BELOW the poverty line.

You have to be really poor to qualify for SNAP.

Furloughed federal workers in Maryland line up for their local food bank.

Federal workers make considerably more money than those on SNAP.

If they can’t afford groceries, what hope do the 40 million Americans about to lose food assistance have?
