Speaker Johnson shut the House down because the House is now irrelevant. The GOP has given their legislative power to Trump. And SCOTUS gave Trump the power to crime without accountability.

Voting to pay military/essential staff during a shut down is ok Dem vote if 1) your vote doesn't change the vote outcome, 2) GOP commits $gazillions to defeat you in the next election, 3) lots of military families in GA, 4) Trump won GA in 2016, 2024 and lost by <12,000 in 2020

We already have one famous story about 'figurky.' In The Glass Menagerie by world acclaimed playwright, Tennessee Williams, Laura escapes to her own make-believe world to her glass menagerie (figurky) friends. A nice, safe place to be compared to Ukraine, Gaza or the East Wing of the White House.

You're right but one would think a clever playwright (not I) would have no problem turning figurky into chess pieces, puppets, nut crackers, or other demonstrable entities depending upon their desired interpretation of the novel. After all, irony is not completely dead . . . yet.

A play on some of the works of Tatarka--including 'The Demon of Consent' is on at the Slovak National Theater right now. It would do well at the Kennedy National Center -or any US theater think. It could even be turned into a new national game to name all the Tatarka figurines following Trump.
