Strange New Worlds musical episode is my new favorite thing. Well-lit, character-driven, visually appealing Star Trek + powerhouse vocals = MY LOVE

Generally I do not encourage dating straight men, but if you do, find one who has awesome sisters he is still great friends with into adulthood. When tiny shoelaces need to be tied, pigtails need to be braided, flower gardens need to be treated as pets, or buttons need to be sewed, he's your man.

Mine has a lot but basically it boils down to he genuinely wanted to be a girldad and THRIVED in it. He loved spending time with us, actually really enjoyed teaching us stuff, sought out opportunities to invite us into his interests, and learned ours even when it wasn't his thing. No gender roles.

(I don't mean like "was nice to Ellen once" or "said a critical thing about MAGA in a post years ago," I mean has repented, left, and made their 🏳️‍🌈 support clear)

Trying to clean up music files from my misguided college years in charismatic circles, and I'm curious: Who of the Bethel/Jesus Culture/IHOP/Hillsong/etc. 2010s lineups has since deconstructed and become queer affirming besides William Matthews (already on Rainbow Faith! 🥳🥳)?

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Yeah, same here, on my Pixel, it's the default now that they did away with Play Music (RIP) and I haaaaate the YouTube Music UI. I'm already so fully entangled in the Google ecosystem that it isn't a concern ethically/politically to just start using YTM more, but I REALLY want to redesign the app 😣
jennadewitt.bsky.social
Apple is technically a solution for 1 and 2, but I'm not sure they are any better ethically/politically and I'm pretty mad that 2 requires a monthly payment now.

(I bought these songs from you over the last 20+ years! I've already paid you for them! I shouldn't have to pay again to listen to them!)
jennadewitt.bsky.social
The key problem I'm running into here is that I do not have unlimited income for this. I actually need to be spending less on subscriptions, so it needs to be under $10 total a month for both. It's getting complicated because #2 requires either paying for an app subscription or cloud subscription.

I'd like to get off Spotify after 12 years there. I've got podcasts on Pocketcast, and audiobooks on Libby/Hoopla, but I need:

1. a nonproblematic music streaming app with no ads
2. a way to play mp3 files on my Android from cloud storage w/ the option to download them for offline listening

Spotify platforms Joe Rogan and other right wing manosphere accounts.

They barely pay the artists.

There are plenty of reasons to boycott them.

Now they’re allowing ICE recruitment ads in their “commercials”.

They’ve bent a knee, and we should all cancel.

Spotify is now running recruitment ads for ICE.

It’s time to cancel your account.

The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

Yes and we memorized addresses too

(And if you ever didn't know, you just looked it up in the Big Book Of Everyone's Personal Info that would literally be *dropped outside your front door*)

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Moreover, while not a *tool*, there are few more explicitly political *symbols* than the Eucharist, than communion: it is literally the inbreaking of God’s Kingdom into our midst, strengthening and binding the faithful as a counter-polity to witness against the death-dealing powers of the world.

'i don't like that they used the Eucharist as a political tool by showing up at the ice facility unannounced and expecting to be let in'

do you seriously believe this is the first time Catholic priests have tried to bring communion to ice detainees

I'm Side A because I've seen the good fruit when everyone is allowed to live out their own unique, God-given identities and vocations. Asexuality is a form of queerness that reveals anything is possible when we discard the narrow roles normativity would place on us.

Like I know there are edgelord leftists out there who look down their noses at shit like No Kings but sorry you guys, the more mass protest looks fun and family-friendly, the bigger it gets and the better its chances of being broadly effective
