One Battle AF indeed

GDP growth right now is basically:
1. Lower imports (after pull-forward early this year)
2. AI data center investment
3. Upper income consumer spending, fueled by strong stock market (see 2)

“It doesn't feel sustainable to me” - Shannon Grein, economist at Wells Fargo.

Expectations for annualized GDP growth have risen from 1.3 percent, as predicted earlier this summer, to 1.8 percent. That’s mainly the result of a reduction in imports and capital investment in AI data centers, but some economists say the growth isn’t sustainable.
GDP growth seems to be picking up steam
But it might be a product of businesses holding back on imports after going on an import binge earlier this year to avoid tariffs.

Sam Altman went from “AI will cure cancer" to "ChatGPT porn" in less than a month
ChatGPT boss predicts when AI could cure cancer We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scenes and not accepting wholesale what any government or administration says. n.pr/4q87Jwb

I think AI is acceptable right now because the underlying information is still discoverable, with people able to trace back to truth and discover AI's mistakes. but we're building towards an information ecosystem of liquefaction zones, where there is no foundation of truth under the slop.

As consumers rush to buy EVs before the tax credit ends on September 30, business is booming for dealerships. But reimbursement delays and procedural changes have meant some sellers are paying out of pocket, hopefully temporarily.
In EV tax credit’s final days, car dealers say they face new IRS hurdles
Before federal EV tax credits expire at the end of this month, dealers are seeing an influx of customers — but many worry payments from the IRS may be delayed.

NEW: Trump administration asks SCOTUS to intervene in the Lisa Cook case
In the Supreme Court of the United States
No. 25A
DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, APPLICANT v.
LISA D. COOK, ET AL.
APPLICATION TO STAY THE PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION
OF THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND REQUEST FOR ADMINISTRATIVE STAY
Pursuant to Rule 23 of the Rules of this Court and the All Writs Act, 28 U.S.C.
1651, the Solicitor General-on behalf of applicant Donald J. Trump, President of the United States-respectfully requests that this Court stay the preliminary injunction issued by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (App., infra, 23a) pending appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and any further proceedings in this Court. The Solicitor General also respectfully requests an immediate administrative stay of the preliminary injunction.
This application involves yet another case of improper judicial interference
with the President's removal authority-here, interference with the President's au-
thority to remove members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors for cause.
The Federal Reserve Act, ch. 6, 38 Stat. 251, broadly authorizes the President
to dismiss members of the Board of Governors "for cause," without further restricting
permissible types of cause. 12 U.S.C. 242. In August 2025, the President determined that cause existed to remove respondent Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board.

(Bloomberg) - US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent once agreed to occupy two different houses as his “principal residence” at the same time, mortgage documents show — the same kind of contradictory pledges that .. Trump has been using to try to oust .. Lisa Cook.

I also feel stressed and one of the things I’d recommend is intentionally building trusting supportive relationships with another human being where both parties can support each other through the highs and lows of life. And if not that I’d recommend getting into the saxophone

I do not know how to fix it, but I cannot say enough how much we in the news need to figure out how to handle the “flood the zone with shit” strategy.

I try not to do media criticism because we all make mistakes and there but for the grace of god go I. But it was really irresponsible for mainstream outlets to run with the "trans slogans engraved on the bullet" narrative, which seemed implausible from the jump.

Trump Media announced ETFs explicitly tied to his politics yesterday.

Trump owns 115M DJT shares and, as president, wields huge influence over the sectors these ETFs will target.
