Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

They should “golden gate Claude” it so it won’t stop aggressively coming on to you regardless of topic. Make the users regret asking for this
flobbert.bsky.social
They should make it so it starts getting all hot and bothered during random conversations about work

recurring gripe of mine: stop talking about these people like they’re fucking supervillains, Palmer Luckey is grifter bullshit artist who is going to steal a lot of public money in exchange for buggy vaporware, he’s not Lex Luthor. they get off when breathlessl hyperventilating about them like this.

The Merchant of Death, billionaire Palmer Luckey, rebranded the DOD the Department of War.

Peter Thiel/Palantir gave his company, Andruil, a billion dollars in January.

This is Palmer “I love killer robots” Luckey.

Origin story on rename below, as well as him hanging out with the worst people.

I have long believed that we should be WAY more vocal about how police and ICE constantly murder dogs, and I think this is great messaging actually.

The reality is that you can mobilize a whole lot of usually tuned-out Americans around a “someone is being mean to hecking doggos” cause.

relatedly, the reason this is illegal is because it would make the military beholden to the highest bidder, which we absolutely do not want, even if you like the idea of draining billionaires for it. it will not take them long at all to start giving the orders if they’re paying.

it’s illegal, but, also, this didn’t happen, and if someone *did* tell him this, they were lying

Trump: "I had a very wealthy person who called -- a donor, a great gentleman -- and he said, 'if there's any money necessary, shortfall, for the paying of the troops, then I will pay it.' Meaning he will pay it. How about that?"

It's worth saying that nearly every white guy over 50 I know is on statins, and is at least aware of their blood sugar. Please, please, please get your heart looked at and your blood pressure controlled (and cancer screenings done). Not everything is avoidable but a lot is. bsky.app/profile/carn...

I’d been thinking for a while that it seems like a startling number of rappers have died in their mid-40s to mid-50s from natural causes but it didn’t really feel like an epidemic until I saw this list. 😦

One of the things that our political class refuses to admit even though it's obviously true is that Twitter is very obviously radicalizing many American elites into full-bore white supremacy

I think if Platner is capable of beating Collins, he can beat Mills. This idea that "oh our bold progressive ideas can't survive the tribulations of a senate primary" is kind of lame, imho.
willbunch.bsky.social
It's really simple

Voters want an opposition party that will fight for them, and democracy, like there's no tomorrow

Dem elites want a members-only social club where polite, dues-paying members who they like to see at cocktail parties get rewarded with plum roles www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
Chuck Schumer gets his preferred candidate, Janet Mills, in crowded Maine Senate race
Schumer had been aggressively recruiting Mills to challenge Republican Susan Collins.

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

its saying "we can do this so we could also do other things all at once, all at the same time". That's the point of it.

I am entirely fed up with internet people getting all grumpy about normal people getting involved in their political movement. A million normies in the street on the same day all saying they're really mad at the party in power with proper permitting and a planned march is an implicit threat 1/
gregpak.net
For anyone who dismissively says the #NoKings marches are just rallies, not protests: that's cool, 'cause RALLIES ARE GREAT! :-)

Mass rallies like this are KEY if you want to eventually build to a general strike, for example.

This is organizing, step by step. See you on 10/18!

thats exactly it, "I figure out how to do something that I currently know nothing about" is a really powerful skill and might even be worth the psychological damage involved in obtaining it :P
