Everyone involved in this, including Trump, should be prosecuted for murder under the next administration.

Let him defend it with presidential immunity, and then take it back to SCOTUS after packing the court back into a real judicial body.
Awful: Pentagon officials told lawmakers Trump now claims authority to bomb people merely “affiliated” with “narco-terrorist" groups, Rep Adam Smith tells me. But under questioning, they wouldn't say what “affiliated” even means!

Lots of fresh info in my new piece:

Johnson doubles down on his filibuster-bypass pushback.
Johnson: "If they had no filibuster, they would pack the SCOTUS. You'd go from 9 to 17 or however many liberals they could pack. You would make DC & Puerto Rico into states, which would give 4 additional Democrat senators & make us a permanent minority. You'd see massive restrictions of 2A rights"
This article feels like an addendum to "Our Own Worst Enemy," and an excellent addendum at that.
Trump’s voters have become like the members of the administration, delighting in the crassness and obscenity that pours out of the president and his circle whenever they are challenged. But policies suffer and the public is poorly served.

How do late-Cold War ballistic missiles have accuracy of meters, no idea of weather?

They fall at 7km/s. Traversing the troposphere in 2 seconds.
Greatest entrance of error was earth gravitational variance. They didn't use GPS or radio or cameras.

It is The End Of The World.

Running gag goes meta as Johnson says he knows nothing about Trump knowing nothing
RAJU: Last week you were very critical of Biden's use of the autopen. But Trump admitted on 60 Minutes to not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire who pleaded guilty to money laundering. Does that also concern you?

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that. I didn't see it. I'm not sure.

Pundits say the problem is that Democrats fail to represent the people—but the real problem is that our political system fails to represent the people.
The Dems have won the popular vote in presidential elections six times since 1992 by roughly 5.5%(1992), 8.5%,(1996) .5%(2000), 7.3%(2008), 4%(2012), 2%(2016),and 4.5%(2020).
In that period the GOP presidential candidate has won the popular vote twice: 2.5%(2004) and 1.5%(2024).
Douthat writes that 2024, when Harris lost by 1.5% of the popular vote, was "an ideological referendum and progressivism lost." I wonder why he didn't view the 2020 election, when Trump lost by 4.5% of the popular vote, as a far more significant loss for conservatism.

Very weird to see the president dismantling rule of law and free trade while picking winners and losers in the market, and have a public freakout over a mayoral candidate proposing free busses.

If it doesn't work, and spends a lot of money for little benefit, reverse the bus policy. Not a big deal.

Just once, I want someone to reply with a variety of "Sure, I understand that. That's why I'm informing you about it now! Do you think it's concerning that [premise]?"

Just basic follow-up questions, from literally anyone, please
Our politics, government and media have become a very very very bad joke.
Raju: Last week, you were very critical of Biden, you said he didn’t even know who was pardoning. On 60 minutes, Trump admitted not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire guilty of money laundering. Is that also concerning?

Johnson: I don’t know anything about it.

A majority of Americans do not believe President Trump is committed to protecting freedom of speech, ensuring a fair criminal justice system or preserving free and fair elections, according to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll.
Poll finds most Americans doubt Trump’s commitment to free speech, fair justice
The American people also don’t seem to know quite what to make of the criminal cases against two of Trump’s perceived opponents.

Unbelievable.

As in, literally, not credible.

Exactly. Show him his post first. Put it up on a screen. Then ask him virtually any question about any word, phrase, or sentence in it.

Who says the man has no empathy? He has expressed what is obviously deep and sincere sympathy for, among others:

✳️ Prince Andrew

✳️ Ghislaine Maxwell

✳️ Jair Bolsonaro

✳️ Vladimir Putin

✳️ Benjamin Netanyahu

✳️ the convicted January 6 insurrectionists

✳️ the Nazis who marched in Charlottesville
Trump on Prince Andrew and the Epstein scandal: "I feel very badly. I mean, it's a terrible thing that's happened to the family. That's been a tragic situation. And it's too bad. I feel badly for the family."
