Grey weather on the Mainline today. I grieve the crossing over of Charles Handy, the philosopher and business thinker.

What he called (w twinkle in his blue eyes) a “management guru…or charlatan(!)”.

A better human.
May he inspire you too toward your purpose.

Seems unAmerican and anti-capitalist, no?

Apparently $20B of our taxpayer money wasn't enough to bail out Argentina.

Now Trump wants U.S. banks to divert ANOTHER $20B away from lending to American businesses, farmers, and families to prop up Milei's corrupt presidency and failing economy.

So much for America First.

This CYA for actions that would get anyone fired in investmentland, would also get you fired in investmentland.

Unless you’re managing money for n*zi or r*piats, then it’s 5/5.

I still remember the shock of seeing a Trump flag on a Humvee in Trump 1, and the vets calling out the bad look it gave the professional army serving all Americans and bound to the constitution.

It’s easy to lose sight of how radical the MAGA agenda is by focusing on each action in isolation. Only by glancing at the entirety of what Trump and Hegseth have wrought can one see what a far-reaching assault they are mounting on the apolitical professionalism of the US military. bit.ly/47aHw7J

Appreciate this curation of #AcademicRunList by @bwaber.bsky.social.
It’ll be at least 3x on the Charles River long loop, no?!

After teaching a virtual class for MIT TLP I had a bunch of meetings, and in between I listened to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist! (1/10)
A selfie of me in front of my packed white bookcase, with various tchotchkes on the shelves, including my book, People Analytics, prominently displayed on the right. I’m a bald, middle-aged, white man with a red beard flecked with white. I’m wearing glasses with thick black rims and a maroon t-shirt, and I’m making a peace sign.

“What you did with Stephanopoulus to the Vice President? I don’t take questions from ABC fake news”

The thing they did was called journalism.

Vance was asked a fair question about whether Tom Homan took $50k.

He changed the topic & started lying.

Stephanopoulus called him out & cut him off.

When I’m generous, you get funding. Elect someone I dislike, you don’t.” Trump is openly treating federal aid as a weapon. It’s the logic of dictators: obedience or retribution.

Trump: "The funding for New York, and for every place, comes through the White House. And I'm very generous, and I was always very generous with New York. But I wouldn't be generous to a communist that's gonna take the money and throw it out the window."

Yes IIRC, it was argued: Not only must they not be shamed, tolerating them was not enough either. They had to be heard out. Wait that was not enough. We had to respect our differences. No, actually we need to be friends with them; else we’re close minded. They broke the gaslight meter on this one.

1)You may remember the articles criticizing liberal students for their hesitancy to make friends with conservative students—alleging that they were less open-minded than their conservative counterparts.

Indiana University fires IDS
adviser amid push to control
student newspaper's content The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

They're trying to prevent the student newspaper from printing news, period. Not just a particular story.

"The Media School directed us to print no news in the paper... nothing but information about homecoming — no other news at all, and particularly no traditional front page news coverage."

Nobel Peace Prize recipient María Corina Machado appeared on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast.

She touted the oil reserves in Venezuela (the largest in the world) and vowed to privatize the oil industry to enable American corporations to exploit and profit from the country’s resources if she gains power.

Paris 1.5°C needs >20% cuts in global emissions every year - starting now!
For Paris 2°C, it’s ~8%.
Which country/company/institution can exceed these rates?
Only those that do have any real “emission space” for carbon trading.
