How long does it take to ferment?

Periodic reminder: if you get a generic that is less effective for you, of any medicine, filing a Form 3500 with the FDA's MedWatch if you're able contributes to getting non-bioequivalent generics pulled from the market: www.fda.gov/safety/medic...

I already had him blocked so this is at least twice that he's said something rancid.

I’ve been a sex worker in this town for 20 years, I have a big reputation in my field, and yet every day, people contact me and are afraid to tell me their name or their phone number, because they fear I will somehow steal their information or violate their privacy.

But they’ll tell SAM ALTMAN 😱
emexastris.bsky.social
I...should not learn how to do that. Currently to get injera I have to go to a restaurant, and that's probably for the best 😆

These points are so basic that they honestly feel kindergarten level to me AND YET it is also very clear that a lot of folks struggle to grasp things like "slogans do not have unambiguous and universal meanings even if you want them to"

Something that a lot of people either missed or have forgotten is that over the past two years there's been a massive gap between what people *intended* to communicate and how their words were heard, and that contributed to the phenomenon discussed below.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

Spent all day reading briefs in Louisiana v. Callais and watching white people argue that the 14th amendment is a race-neutral colorblind amendment and citing Plessy for that proposition has me so angry. Just.. come the fuck on.

The Reconstruction Amendments were not intended to be race-neutral.

Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

Thank you for the reminder

Sometimes I think I’m being unreasonable when I’m disappointed when I see people not approaching life/advocacy from a disability justice framework, but then I remember THATS THE BARE MINIMUM!

Protip: when you have Ethiopian food, get extra injera, take it home, fry it in butter and sesame oil, and serve with cheesy scrambled eggs. Greasy and delicious!

I have one that's mostly cream-colored but could be called yellow at a stretch, but I wore it to Simchat last night. I look terrible in yellow.

I'm pretty sure the only yellow shirt I own is from my freshman college dorm, time to go digging for that, I guess?

Yes, upload your government ID to the plagiarism machine so you can wank one out. What could go wrong.

It’s also so unnecessary. Literally nobody is talking about universal public masking (even though we desperately need to), so you’re basically inventing a straw man to punch down at.

Which is also dick behavior.

The amount of time I've spent trying to find a 5th item for Kroger's various "Save $X if you buy 5" deals is...worth significantly more than whatever $X is.

(She says, and goes back to scrolling the deal)

Since I read discourse today, a reminder:

If everyone took their COVID shots, if we had contact tracing & prompt use of post-exposure antivirals, and if we had clean indoor air standards; we could get the reproduction number for SARS-CoV-2 well below 1 & keep it there.

Until then, wear your mask.
emexastris.bsky.social
I've had people personally explain to me, a person who still masks whenever she's in an indoor public place, why they don't mask anymore. They want me to tell them it's ok. Sorry, it's not. If your conscience is poking you about it, maybe you should reconsider.

So, really, masking is a stop gap solution, until such time as rational public health education and wide scale mitigation kicks in. I don’t think anyone really likes to mask. But in many cases, this is the only available, rational response to an irrational and frankly irresponsible negation of harm.

it’s really really depressing how widespread covid denialism is, even ostensibly left-leaning folk have become more or less eugenicists on this issue. people are really uninformed about the current research on just how damaging covid is
emexastris.bsky.social
We should have taken the beginning of this ongoing, deadly, airborne pandemic as a reason to make societal investments in ventilation and air filtration. We didn't, so we're left with masks. Until there's clean air or a sterilizing vaccine - both made much less likely by Trump and RFK - mask up.

If we had a proper *group* response (much better air quality indoors), masking wouldn't be as necessary.

Try to apply this to water: "if I don't filter my water, sometimes I'll get cholera" -- in the short-term, personal filtering makes sense; the real long-term solution is water treatment plants.
jamellebouie.net
yeah, i think a commitment to public health obligates you to get vaccinated and, when you are sick, do what you can to avoid spreading that to other people. the demand that one mask at all times in public spaces is, i think, unreasonable.
emexastris.bsky.social
There is no such thing as an intrinsically, 100% "good person" and so much of our society would be less fucked if we stopped thinking there was. Your goodness is your actions and their effects. Sometimes those aren't great. So change your actions. Put on a fucking mask at the doctor's office.
emexastris.bsky.social
Yup. If you aren't masking in public, you are putting yourself and others at risk, and if being told that upsets you, you're reacting to the cognitive dissonance of your self-perception of a "good person" versus the knowledge you're driving the disabled out of society. That's a you problem, sorry.

Liberals clutching their pearls on this site when told that not masking to protect others in essential public spaces is ableist. Instead of getting angry, they should reflect on how they can do better
