Mr. Roger's had an entire episode where one of his beloved gold fish died. He buried it the fish and spent the episode talking about the tragedy of his dog passing when he was a kid and how to deal with grief.
I saw somebody the other day suggesting that "main character death is too dark for YA" and I can't stop thinking about it. both because I have YA stories where protagonists die and also because when I was a teenager I had to attend the funerals of several friends, including my first boyfriend

I feel like dividing the trans community up by who has or hasn't undergone medical transition is not a good thing.
I think it's absolutely fine to self ID as transexual, but trying to officially make it and transgender two different things doesn't sit right with me.
