Helga hat Recht: „backen“ war ursprünglich ein starkes Verb mit Ablaut u, also „buken“ in der Vergangenheit.
Quasi das Gegenteil des falschen, aber oft gehörten „gewunken“, bei dem „gewinkt“ standardsprachlich korrekt ist. Was man noch daran merkt, dass niemand sagte: Er wank ihr zu.

15 October 1930 | Czech Jewish girl, Gertrud Gunst, was born in Prague. In March 1939 she emigrated to Norway.

She arrived at #Auschwitz on 1 December 1942 and was murdered in a gas chamber after the arrival selection.
